Where are we now?

Hey everyone. I think what I'm looking for here is an summary of what's going on now as far as vaccines and the US.

Will is not vaccinated. The Dude has been reading and researching about the studies that have been coming out... and he is of the opinion that vaccines aren't the big scary monster that they've been accused of being.

So. Are they? Has any new information come out in the past 5 years that says that vaccines aren't bad and in the right circumstances would be fine to shoot up with?

I don't know. I'm of the mind that Willow's immunity is fine how it is...and..."if it ain't broke, don't fix it."... but I'm willing to discuss it and see what's going on.

Did "they" decide that Autism is not linked to MMR vaxes? What are they putting in vaccines now - rainbows and sprinkles?

Anyway, thanks.

Vaccines are the same as they have been from the start - a toxin that must be removed from the body by the body as soon as it is injected.

How old is Will?

Is he ready to read some serious subjects? If he is under 18, he should not be concerned but remain unaltered imo.

I see he is only 6. He should not be concerned with the issue.

Yeah Willow will be 6 in July. I've said all along that we'll just not vax until she decides it's something she wants done to her body. But... I'm coming up against The Dude (DH)... it's not like he's pressuring me or pressing the issue... however, I always feel so defeated because I don't know as much on the subject as maybe I should.

Thanks Gitti. I was going to PM you... Hehe

There is no proof that Autism is not cause by vaccines. What has come out presently is that there is no compelling proof that it is caused by them either. Nothing new.. just more CYA reports.

I'm sure the information is on here somewhere, but...what kind of reports were these?

Cover Your A$% reports , I'm guessing.

Those studies that supposedly say that "vaccines don't autism" don't actually say what the vaccine defenders would like them to say:

No, they just want actual studies on the safety of vaccines done.

It is the likes of Offit et al that run around and claim that it has been proved that vaccines don't cause autism, so maybe you should critique their grasp of science. :

I consider Offit and Wakefield to be birds of a feather.

a matching pair? Interesting!

yep-- conflicts of interest, given forums that have allowed them to be very public and it seems to have gone to their head, stand behind bad science, use propaganda to mask the bad science...I could go on but I think you get what I mean.

Studies that indicate a possible correlation:

I haven't looked at all of them myself, so take from it what you will.

If only they were arguing the same side, they would be best buds...like Kirby and Kennedy.

there is, of course, the obvious difference:

Offit is rolling in money, has a prestigious job, is quoted by almost every news source going, gets to whine about those mean parents who send death threats and gets lots of public sympathy, gets truly crappy articles published in medical journals, has his book published and praised...

I think we all know what Wakefield has gone through.

It is much safer and considerably more profitable to praise vaccines than to criticize them.

I haven't watched it myself, but several people on this board recommend watching Vaccine Nation on You Tube to see what's going on with vaxes.

Was fear of autism the only reason your dh didn't want to vax your dd? While I am concerned about it, it was one of the least of my worries.
