If the articles are related to the show you can post them. Jon playing drinking games doesn't really have to do with the show.

Gotcha...I think I'll just PM first to be sure next time!

I'm sooo glad I'm not the only one that noticed how much stuff was left in the garage as they were driving away at the end of the episode!! I actually turned to ds and said "I hope someone is going back to clean all that out". It broke my heart to see some really nice things getting tossed... I can only hope it got recycled in some fashion. Anyone else surprised TLC/Discovery didn't send a crew member to dismantle the lighting??

I'm getting pretty bored with the 'staged' episodes (going on a walk, getting the puppies, getting appliances, etc.), and I miss having Cara and Mady around. It's seeming less about being a family and surviving together and more of the "Kate and Tups Showcase". I hope it picks up soon or I'm going to have to find something else to do Monday nights!

Part of the reason I haven't been enjoying the last few episodes is because they're all about moving. I've moved 4 times in the last 7 years and the LAST thing I want to see, hear, or think about is moving!:

I miss seeing the twins, too! Maddy reminds me so much of my 7 yr old and watching her on tv helps me feel more loving and gentle towards my own (often) difficult child.

Huh? What just happened? I just watched a whole show about cleaning out the house and taking down the playset and there's still obvious junk left in the garage and playset still there. Whaaa? It's so bizarre.
I noticed that too and it made me wonder! Maybe the production crew needed to get the driving away shot before it got dark so they did that before they were leaving for real?

Okay, i'm jumping. in. I find myself defending Kate when my circles of friends talk about the show, mostly because in a lot of ways she reminds me of my sister (who is a great person, but would probably come off like Kate were her life to be filmed). BUT...I feel like lately she is saying more unkind things and being more sarcastic. Like her whole attitude about the dogs...before they even went to get them she was already acting completely annoyed, and then once they had them threatening constantly to take them back if the kids didn't get in line. I really want to believe that at least in part there is some editing going on to emphasize this part of her personality since I'm sure it's more "entertaining", but it makes me sad too. I think I mostly just hope she is happier than she seems, you know?

If it's actual news and has something to do with the show, feel free to share.

If it's celebrity gossip/news, is not directly related to the show, and involves beer pong, it's not for MDC, sorry!

Annette Marie, you are so darn sensible.

I'm guessing that's not a compliment.

Sorry, though. It's the word from above.

This week's show is supposed to be about losing a little toy, and an x-ray at the vet! Oh no!

I only watched the first part of this show and was incredibly bored. I also hate how much stuff they threw out....and I thought it was heartless when Kate made such a big deal about him being a packrat and his comment that he likes to save things of his dads.....that made me sad, but Kate didn't seem to care.....Sometimes what she doesn't do speaks volumes to me.

I haven't watched the show in ages, but this thread has sucked me back in. I have a stomach bug and I spent my day wrapped up in blankets on the sofa watching clips & montages and scouring the snark sites. The combination of verbal warfare, smart dressing, and adorableness is irresistible.

Now I feel dirty.

Alexis reminds me of my older DD, Mady reminds me of my LO. It makes me so sad to read peoples' comments about Mady. She's a little kid with an independent spirit and very little room to behave independently.

PS~ I found this interesting: IMDB has character profiles for each of the kids (that's International Movie Data Base for you boooors ).

I'm curious as to why those of you who "say" you don't watch this show come to this thread? The thread would mean absolutely nothing to me if I didn't know at least a little bit about the family and the show. Comment not meant to be snarky, I'm seriously just curious.

me too. In fact, it's strangely eerie how much my 6 y o DD is like Mady and I'm talking mostly the same type of outgoing and free-spirited nature that Mady has. I love Mady!! Out of all the children she has always been my favorite. I love her little grins and smirky little faces she makes and how she talks so adult-like. That's totally my DD to the T.

I agree. Kate is so not a sentimental or nurturing type of person. The fact that she was a nurse scares me sometimes. I wonder how many people in the medical profession are so cold. I've been in hospitals enough to have experienced cold-hearted health workers so I wonder just how many are that way in real life with their own family. How sad.

And to whoever posted in the last Gosselin thread about the show coming to an end....I really hope thats true. It's time that this family gets on with their life. They have a new home where no one knows they live and they haven't showed the house yet so it can't be found hopefully and they should move on and try to be a real family at this point. Well, that and the fact that the little ones are starting school in the fall so it won't even be a show at that point without kids in the house, so I'm sure that's basically why it would stop. Who wants to watch Jon & Kate sit around all day twiddling their thumbs, arguing, cleaning and working out, ugh. lol

I agree. I saw the episode the other day where Kate had her stomach surgery and got her hair done and all and she seemed so normal, sweet, thankful and happy to everyone around her on that show, even her own family. Where did that Kate go? She is seriously one of those people who let success go to their head, because she seemed completely and utterly normal in the very beginning.

I just watched the Good-bye Old House episode. I was suprised that the kids were being shuffled about to stay out of the way and given some left over play things to keep them distracted. Why weren't they helping? They are 8 and 5 years old, certainly an age that could help cleaning up an old house. My DS loves to help out with chores (in the ways that he can) and when I was a child I was always included in the house-tasks. Why not give them trash bags to pick up random papers, or sponges to wash the windows and baseboards? Why wasn't anyone outside with tools "helping" Jon take down the playscape? Sure, they probably wouldn't have accomplished much REAL cleaning, but at least they could have felt like they were helping and contributing to the household.

To me it seems like it would have been a great lesson and a lot of fun. Iit would have been a good lesson about caring for things, the value of hard work, and family teamwork. Having to be entertained and stay out of the way while others do work seems like another way they are being shown that everything will be handed to them.

And I know some folks think that kids should just have fun and shouldn't be asked to do chores. That's totally cool too, but if that's really the case, why didn't they stay home or go somewhere else for the day? I guess that wouldn't make for good TV.

I didn't take it as snarky

I saw the original special with them YEARS ago on discovery. Then I caught a few minutes of the series when it first started, and I couldn't make myself watch the whole thing because of the way she was treating her husband. My kids were migrating in to watch it with me and I remember clearly thinking...I don't want my kids to SEE that kind of behavior towards a spouse!!!

So, it's interesting to see what the show has morphed into over the years. I did go see the epi on youtube where Jon made Korean food, but it left a weird taste in my mouth and seemed so staged, plus Kate was just snarking left and right. So watching it doesn't work for me (and we don't have tv anyways) but it's fun to hop in the thread and follow along.

Kinda like I'd rather read the news online than watch it on TV. Less headache. More perspective
