I clicked on the third Youtube link, and watched until the interview part with the two of them. When Jon started talking - honestly - about how miserable he is and indicating that he didn't want to do the show anymore and didn't want to work from home and Kate just blew him off ("Some of us deal with things a little differently...going through a phase...", etc.), I couldn't watch it anymore. I mean, I was a little startled by how completely different they look since the first episodes, but I am completely taken aback by how she is so entirely disregarding his feelings here.

I would be so hurt if that were my husband doing that to me.

The clip really comes across as though she is afraid to let him just say how he feels, afraid of the truth. She kept desperately (seemingly) cutting him off and jumping in to minimize the phrases he managed to get out...

Unfortunately that pretty much sums up their relationship and is why I don't watch the show. I did watch this clip though to find out what all the talk is about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qs6_5...eature=related

Wow! It's like banging your head up against a brick wall over and over. She is listening to him but she's not hearing what he is saying.

There was an interesting analysis of their body language on one of the celebrity news shows last weekend-whatever came on after our 11 PM news on Sunday. The had a body language expert on talking about how Kate perceives Jon as a pain in the neck, and how they were avoiding touching each other and what that says about intimacy in their relationship and so on.

I did read in a link off off CNN's page something about TLC announcing that the show will be back for another season. Hopefully they'll get some counseling and work on their marriage a little bit off camera.

Wonder if they'll have to go back to Hawaii for that? Maybe they can renew their vows again next year, too......maybe Fiji. You know, for the kids.
No, they will need to get help in Europe, 'cause then the kids can also be "cultured" at the same time.

I hate to say it this way, because it just sounds wrong, but I'm having difficulty phrasing it better:

I would think though, in a couple whose faith is as strong as the Gosselins see theirs or claim theirs to be, they would at the very least be able to look to their faith community and their minister for assistance in strengthening their marriage and for guidance about the impact that their show is having on the relationship and on the family. I admit, my rabbi isn't the first place I'd turn if I were having a marital issue that needed the assistance of an outsider, unless it were a faith based issue causing challenges...

They said they can quit anytime they want," just seems like a pipe dream/fantasy/moot point now. Why would the kids' opinions matter more than Jon's? They don't even get to pick their own paint color, hairstyles, and pets--but doing the show is up to them? I don't believe it for a second.
I agree.

I just finished the last episode, and wow, that interview was so sad. I felt so bad for Jon.
I don't like the trashing and judging of them going on here, but the end of that episode really got to me.
I hope they make some good calls re the next season.

I have nothing to add but that I totally agree. He is miserable and she does not care. She is full of crap that the kids get to decide when it ends, if your husband has no say neither do your kids. My only hope is that enough outlets get on this bandwagon and out the whole thing and TLC is forced to cancel....I don't see it ending any other way if it's left up to Kate

Ok I was watching TLC last night and on the 20th I think is a new episode of J&K, apparently they are having solar panels put up on their house and they are calling the episode "green" I thought the new season wasn't until May? Are they worried that Table for 12 might steal their thunder so they aren't waiting? It didn't say it was a new season though?

Edited to add how the folks at TLC explain the special:

Please note our special JON & KATE PLUS 8 GREEN on Sunday, April 19 at 9 PM ET/PT. The special shows how the Gosselins make eco-friendly changes to their new home. As you may know, Eileen O'Neill was the president at Planet Green before coming to TLC, so this is a great episode that reflects the network's more environmental approach under her influence. It's also a fresh new episode for fans missing the show since its season finale.

Another full season is expected to start in about a month, a network spokeswoman said."

Mamabug,
That is just a "special" they did for TLC (already taped, but saved for Earth Day). The new season starts in May a scheduled.

I have a lot to say about Jon--but am not sure what is appropriate to say here. I don't think he really wanted to quit the show. I think he was bummed at the end of the series for other reasons. I think he would be very reluctant to give up the money they make now. He recently bought himself a new sports car for his birthday. They need the show to pay for their new lifestyle.

I do think that Kate loves the money and the fame, and is living out her dream.

Wow. I feel like Kate would feel like she wasn't as relevant if she wasn't having her life and her family's life filmed and put on television. She clearly loves it and he clearly doesn't. If your husband is that miserable it's time to reevaluate the situation. So sad.

that sounds very interesting.

I'm starting to like Table of 12 now. I think it's refreshing to have another family on TLC to watch. They are so different the way they do things. It's been so long since I've seen J&K+8 at this point.

How can we miss them if they don't go away?

Seriously, do these children EVER get a break from being filmed, photographed, and put on display?
It would seem not, which is sad. They are featured in a new magazine talking about thier marriage, I think it's Good Housekeeping. I bought it but put it in a drawer for later......wonder what that is going to say to enlighten us! :

I did not get that impression either, that he wants to quit.

I didn't get the impression that he wants to quit either, sounded more like he is just super frustrated over the stories going around.
I think he wants to keep doing the show, but he also wants more privacy and I bet he would like to be able to go out and work, even if to just have contact with other people.

I thought it was pretty clear by the comments that Jon made that he didn't want to do another season. Maybe I was just half asleep and not paying much attention when I watched it but it sure seemed to me like he voiced his opinion pretty clearly on the matter.
