This was my understanding. He didn't like giving up privacy. Unfortunately, it seems to me, in his "line of work" he traded his family privacy (including himself) for very large ludicrous financial gains.

Has anyone seen the preview for the Gosselins "Go Green?" Is this their show or is it another show on TLC? I couldn't tell by the preview. Looks interesting though.

It is billed as a "special" It's one hour and it's on tonight on TLC.

On another note I was in Target today and happened to see the newest book from the Gosselins, The picture book called 8 faces or something like that.....OMG what a waste of $$, though I am sure the hardcore fans will buy it in droves. It is basically pictures of the kids and her pregnant that anyone can access online......boggles my mind....you want privacy but your selling pictures of your kids????

Thoughts about the "Go Green" episode:

1) Paper plates are NOT green. Nor are plastic cups. Or styrofoam.
2) Kate seems to have NO INTEREST in the environment. AT ALL. YAY for greenwashing!!!!! :Puke
3) Could she have been any more rude or immature with the solar panel installers?
4) The kids' Valentines breakfast: was that ORGANIC whipped cream, ORGANIC strawberry syrup, and ORGANIC fruit roll ups? Probably not.
5) There was one part where she said "I am surrounded by obnoxious men" and kept going on and on about how obnoxious the workers were. She sounded SO obnoxious OMG.

This episode irritated me a lot. MAYBE it's because DS pulled my lemonade off the coffee table and into my lap halfway through so I was cold and sticky but probably mostly because Kate was particularly annoying.

tinyactsofcharity I have to agree with you! I didn't even finish watching the episode. It really rubbed me the wrong way how negative her attitude was toward Steve Thomas, the workers, and the project as a whole. Her general demeanor was just the pits. Think of the behavior she is modeling to her kids!

When I saw the ad for that episode, I truly thought that it was Posh Spice, not Kate.

Solar panels for electricity, thermal solar panels for heating water...

They built a reclaimed wood picnic table...

and they put in little solar walkway lights (totally necessary, I'm sure) and LED lightbulbs.

New lightbulbs?!?!

Whatever. I was totally expecting a composting toilet and a rain barrel system and some permaculture landscaping.

I knew when I saw the ad for the "green" special that it would be nothing useful at all. How many times have we seen her using paper plates and plastic cups (she does every single day) and look at that huge new house. Solar panels are great, but don't pretend to be green and have your very own television special about it when you only do one or two "green" things and then do tons of very bad things to the environment.

How did I miss this episode? When was it on?

What gets me is how Kate has always refered to their kids eating all "organic" as being healthier even when she gives them organic candy. uhhh...junk food is junk food.

I think they are also using footage on the show the guy does.

I have to say I have only watched half of this show and while I think they are not truly doing this to be green, I wasn't that bothered by Kate. She seemed to have a funny back and forth with the guy. I myself would not be all the whoo hoo about seeing the solar panels....I would probably pretent to be more excited then she seems but he truly didn't seem to mind and she was laughing at herself alot. I do think the show was a joke for the most part, here you are going green, and for her it's not about the environment it's about the almight buck as usual, and then you show her with the plates/cups/etc....so it kind of makes no sense. :

I am only halfway through, did she make the obnxious comment more then the once? She seemed to just be making a joke about them making her get into the getup, and they were all making fun of her as well.....so I think in this instance we are looking for snark when maybe for once it's not really there. I know I am totally guilty of just expecting the worst from her, but this time I am not seeing it???

I missed the "Go Green" episode, but did catch for the first time this weekend the episode where they were showing the kids their new house.

They did a huge song and dance about showing the kids the (empty) master bedroom and telling them that they were NEVER allowed back in. Then Kate yelled at Jon because he wasn't yelling at the kids enough about how they were never to come in.

It made me so sad. I understand the desire for privacy (but that of course begs the question about why you would put yourself on national tv), and I plan on teaching my kids that if our bedroom door is closed you need to knock and WAIT for an answer (because sometimes Mommy and Daddy are "busy"), but I cannot imagine banning my children from my room. I really don't get this thought process at all. One of my favourite things is spending family time in bed on a Saturday morning talking and playing, and hope for that to continue long after my daughter has moved into her own room full time.

It is all just so sad.

First Gillian I have to say Royce is just adorable, and I love his picture!

I was watching this weekend as well and saw the episode where they show video footage of them pre kids. I am still shocked and amazed at how very much KAte has changed. She used to be soft spoken, sweet, and well quite kissy huggy.....WTH happened? I realize that having kids stresses you out, but sometimes you usually get a glimpse of the old you.....I never see the old her, unless they just never choose to show that?

MamaBug, I was just going to say this very thing! I hated this episode...bored me to tears and Kate's attitude was awful. But I was really taken by how much she has changed - physically and in her overall demeanor. She used to look at Jon when they were being interviewed, she smiled and seemed so much more grateful. She just seems so full of herself and as if the whole thing is bothering her but at the same time she loves it. It's just strange.

I was watching LPBW last night and the biggest difference is that watching that show makes me feel good. It makes me feel so honored to be a mom. Watching Amy Roloff with her kids is awesome. Watching Kate makes my skin crawl.

I'm seeing TONS of obnoxious behaviour on the 'growing green' episode. Poor guy, he's being so nice to Kate and trying to engage her, and she's just acting mean and rude.

I don't really watch it anymore, but DD wanted to watch it yesterday. We watched the episode where the kids were helping to paint at the new house. I was so annoyed watching this. First of all, I don't get why no one put tape or something on the trim to keep it from getting paint on it. Second, if you're going to let your kids do that, then step back and let them do it. If you can't handle it (which clearly Kate can't), then don't do it. One of the kids dripped a small drop of paint onto the drop cloth and she acted like a can of paint got poured onto the floor. It was nice to see the kids being able to do that and get somewhat dirty, but I think Kate should have found something else to do in another room.
