Yeah, the Oprah interview was "off," somehow. The defensive response that the kids have been filmed their entire lives so that's just their "normal," did nothing to convince me that this is a good idea. Lots of things become "normal" for children.....doesn't mean it's good.
I thought Kate missed a wonderful opportunity when Oprah asked about how they got the kids to sit and be quiet. Instead of, "I bribed them with lollipops!" how about, "They're doing great, aren't they?! They're great kids." and throw those poor children a bone for once.
The episode was another sad display to me. The total irresponsibility that they are displaying with regards to those animals is shocking. Four yr. olds using ONE paper towel to mop up dog pee (and thus getting it all over her hands), with seemingly the only supervision around being the camera crew was disturbing to me. Likewise, Jon's complete disregard for the vet's post-surgery instructions. Wow. How could you not put the dog on a leash and keep her calm so her stitches don't burst?

And the dogs jumping on the kids seems like a dangerous direction to me. We have a 120 lb. Mastiff and he was never allowed to dominate the children like that. That's a nightmare waiting to happen.
Jon's barking out orders to those kids never ceases to amaze me. Do they ever smile or say please/thank you? Kate sure goes on a lot of trips for a mom using the show to stay at home with her kids.

And it's a strange thing to me that what the kids have done is news to her on the interview couch. Do they not speak on the phone while she's away? A child dumping a shampoo bottle all over the bathroom counter and finger painting with it definitely would have made the cut for my, "So how did it go today?" conversation.

I still want to eat those kids. Alexis (?) covering her little face and laughing at the vet? Does not get cuter than that! And little Joel just melts me.
