The Gosselins come MARCHing along... - Page 5

I think it's way more than TLC's camera crews. They've recently said in interviews that they have a new nanny, and in a recent episode you could see someone running a vacuum. To me, it's more attempts to obscure the multiple people they've hired to help run that household.

And again, I have to wonder things like, how far would Jon have gone into that vet office had he not remembered that he left a kid in the van before someone else said something? No one stopped Alexis from putting her hands in cleanser and dog pee as they stood there filming her. No one called out for Kate when Joel needed help in the bathroom. They talk about how these people (the crew) are like family, but it's just not. I'm sure they are super nice folks who are just doing their jobs, but the dynamics are sooo weird.

Discovery owns TLC, Discovery Health, Animal Planet, The Military Channel and the Science Channel.

I guess I just don't get why it would be necessary to "prove" that point. Of course 9 people is a lot to cram in most waiting rooms--especially little kids. But to show the sequence like, walking in the the door, being in the waiting room, and moving into the conference room with big discrepencies like, dog here...poof....dog gone, is just so weird to me. Same with the whole swingset last week. It's just strange.

I thinks it's awesome that the kids eat so well. Every time they film making lunch, they always have a really nice variety of foods on their plates.

I've been noticing that there isn't any (food) product advertising anymore. They seem to block everything out now. No more Juicy Juice.

And props to them for not allowing camera's into the kids bedrooms anymore. That is very important imo. Good for them.

Oh my, what were they thinking getting dogs! But at least the kids are old enough to start helping out. That clip showing Alexis cleaning up pee just showed a small part. We don't know if Jon or Kate came and cleaned the rest. Knowing how Kate is, I'm almost certain she did her own clean up! Ha ha.

Oh, and about one of the dogs jumping up on the kids. I think that's just bound to happen at some point. Puppies aren't going to behave perfectly right off the bat. I'm sure (at least) Jon is teaching them what is acceptable and what isn't.

I agree with you eco-mama, I do think they eat well. I myself was actually like " Good idea to give hummus!" My dd is almost 2 and very picky but she loves a dip so I got some of the hummus I eat for her and she loves it! So I guess I CAN still learn from Kate :

Okay... so I watched some of the Oprah interview, and was amazed when Kate said she is up at 5am everyday to run, and that it calmed her/soothed her or something to that effect!! Calm me negative/pessimistic, but I would like to see videotape evidence of that!! She has said in numerous episodes how she is not a morning person, and how Jon made her coffee and brought it to her in bed, just to get her out of bed in the am. I guess where there is a will, there's a way.

They showed several situations where the dogs were jumping on kids and no adult seemed to step in. Jon couldn't even be bothered to follow the vet's post-op instructions, so I'm not sure of any sort of responsibility on their part with regards to these pets.

Yeah, the up at 5 a.m. thing was confusing since she also said that the kids aren't allowed to get up in the morning until the sun shines through a certain window....because it wakes up Jon and Kate. Ummm....huh? If you're up at 5 why would that be an issue?

It's KILLING ME....I can't see the vet episode because I don't have cable, and I was THERE when it was filmed. They are right next to a daycare where I briefly worked and we were all excited when we saw their big van pull up. I really wanted to see that particular episode. I don't know why that really matters to me....I don't like how Kate talks to her family anyhow. sigh.

Oh and I haven;t read all the posts....but I just want to know if they showed on TV that Jon forgot one of the kids? I couldn't tell which one from where I was but he forgot one of them and had to come back for her. Seeing how many people followed those poor kids around fliming everything they did, I feel bad for them. One of the cameramen even jumped in the car with them when it was time to leave. They're never "off duty".

Yes, they did show him forget Alexis.
You can find the episode on youtube.

That scene was like, 5 seconds, many years ago. People change. Running is now a priority for her, so she gets up early to do that. I don't think there is anything more than that. I'm not a morning person either, I have to force myself to get up if I want to accomplish anything like exercise. Kate probably does the same thing.

yeah, but to give him credit, he was literally a few feet away and you could see him frantically counting and turning around. So he realized almost immediately.

I must admit, as a GSD owner - I'm appalled at how they're raising those puppies. First, these are dogs that require A LOT of time, energy, and training. Getting two of them at once, it's not twice the work, it's 200 times the work.

Letting them jump on the kids - that is really going to backfire if they don't put a stop to this.

I just can't believe they got 2 dogs, since (to me) Kate looks like she can barely handle her life now in terms of the amount of time she spends yelling, or angry, or annoyed.

So, I just don't understand - why add two puppies into that equation? Two puppies that will be high energy dogs that require LOTS of training, exercise, time, energy, etc.

I had to stop watching after that, as I got too annoyed just looking at their ways with the dogs! I sincerely hope there is some serious training going on behind the scenes.

They had to add the puppies because life at their house is no longer making good TV, the kids are in school. Kate is home all day with John. They got the dogs because it would give them material for a few more episodes. That is when I got turned off to the show when every show had to be an event. I have a big family so in the beginning it was the draw of seeing how they functioned day to day with all those kids. After the first season it just felt like it turned into, "Look at us and all these things we do with our kids because we have a TV show." Most large families are doing their best to get buy and get nothing free and try to make every penny stretch. We don't get to go skiing in Utah, go to Disney World. If we do those things with our family it costs us thousands of dollars that usually is not in a large family budget. Am I happy for them that they have found a way to market themselves, sure. Because of that the show is just not realistic or relatable anymore.
I was curious about what you guys thought of the Oprah interview with them. I still don't watch and don't plan on starting any time soon.
Did I hear right that John got hair plugs because Kate missed his full head of hair. Are you kidding me! That is crazy! From the Oprah interview is doesn't sound like they are stopping the show anytime soon.

Yeah, I don't "get" the comments about Kate being on the treadmill. What reason would she have to LIE about that??? It is pretty obvious that she has lost weight. And she said she does it for stress relief... I believe that. The treadmill is addictive -- once you start to feel good about exercising, it is easier to stay motivated. Vanity is a very motivating thing, for some, also. So, maybe she doesn't do it every. single. day. Maybe when she talked about the kids and the light coming through the window, she was talking about weekends? Who knows. I just can't believe the number of comments, like she is making it up or something (and some of those comments I saw on another site that I should really quit occasionally browsing). I agree with the pp who said PEOPLE CHANGE. I, for one, am constantly changing, and over the years, there have been times I had the energy and motivation to get on the treadmill... and times when I just haven't been able to do it. For whatever reason, or combination of reasons.

I think there are valid concerns about this show, and then I cannot believe some of the things that people nit-pick.

I think it goes to integrity.

Jon and Kate have said and done many things that contradict themselves. I don't think it's unusual that people would start to listen more closely to see what else is being said that matches up.....or not.

I know when I've had friends reveal themselves as liars, I've certainly made it a point to listen more carefully and see if stories match. Seems like human nature.

Yes exactly.

I wonder if people feel the same about the Duggars? See now they're sent everywhere too. South America, San Francisco, Christian Movie Festival in Texas, etc.

See, I don't think it has to do with them (Duggars or Gosselins) being sent anywhere. I think that J&K are misrepresenting themselves to their viewers. Making their life look different on tv than it actually is. Kate wants everyone to think she is this fabulous multi-tasker who can take on the world. You know, cooking from scratch, doing 5-8 loads of laundry every day, keeping in shape, cleaning her house, taking good care of her kids, managing two dogs, all while WOHM doing her speaking engagments. I think we all know that none of that is really true. I feel the Duggars lives seem more real, despite all of the trips/activities they've been doing lately.

ETA: I have never seen Ma or Pa Duggar say something nasty to their children. Never. They appear to be very respectful of one another. With J&K, it's commonplace to belittle and demean the kids (all except for Hannah, anyway) and each other.

Well, of course you never see them saying anything nasty to their children because they aren't actually raising them. Pass the kid onto your buddy and its easy to be pleasant when you aren't doing anything. Jon and Kate are actually parenting, so I cut them some slack.

I respectfully disagree. After watching several Duggar episodes (I admit that I haven't seen all of them), I did notice that Ma & Pa spend time with the kids - sometimes individually and sometimes in a group setting. But let's be honest here. J&K aren't really parenting their kids anymore than the Duggars are (or aren't). They've gone through over 9 nannies/helpers that we know of since the show's inception, not to mention the family members that stepped in to babysit when J&K needed them (remember when J&K flew to LA for Jon's hair transplant and left the sick/vomiting tups with Jodi-or was it Beth?) and the TLC staff that helps out. They hardly ever show Kate with the kids anymore. And when J&K are with the kids, they're nasty to them. It's disrespectful and and sad. Again, I don't see the Duggars behaving like that to any of their children.

I totally agree--it's the misrepresentation that galls me.

I don't really watch the Duggars, but I know there are many, many posts and threads here on MDC if folks want to know what people think of them.

How in the world have I missed all these extra people you guys are talking about? I need to pay more attention to the background I guess. I'm glad I'm not the only one grossed out by the one paper towel pee clean up job. I kept thinking we'd see her go wash her hands, I hope they just edited it out. I felt bad for Hannah at the vet's office. I thought it was a little unfair to single her out and make her feel guilty & embarrassed. I'm sure she's not the only one to be leaving her toys lying around.

I did like how when we cut to one scene in the kitchen Kate was holding one of the boys upside down lol.
