I plan on reading that book soon. If you liked that book you may also like Stolen Innocence by Elissa Wall and Keep Sweet... Children of Polygamy by Debbie Palmer.
Would you recommend Escape? why or why not?

I strongly recommend Escape, LittleBlessings. It reads like fiction/thriller it is so outragous and fast paced. I have really enjoyed it thus far. I am almost finished and will be back when I am for book discussions. Theoretica, you'd better come back!!

Yes, I read it a while back. I thought it was a thoroughly interesting story, which I sucked down like drinking a think chocolate milkshake (in about that amount of time, too!).

My impression, though, was that the author was rushed to write the story. The editing could have been better, because there were a few times I was confused/distracted from the story line by details that didn't make sense.

I don't know how she survived under those conditions for so long. I wonder still how Betty is doing and where she is nowadays.

I read a follow-up story on her somewhere--she's back with her dad's family (in the compound). She spends her days sewing, babysitting, etc. She's not married (yet.)

Well I finished this book a few days ago. The night that I last updated, actually. I'm still processing the information as it was a serious culture shock and therefore quite hard to understand. I don't think the writing or editing was fantastic and I agree with dflanag2 that it is a bit hard to follow at times. She seemed very rushed to get it all on paper. The ending seems very disjointed and abrupt, I've noticed that with a lot of new writers.

Betty moving back to the compound was really hard for me. As a parent, I don't know what I would do in that situation. I've been processing that with some friends of mine with children my age (teens and early twenties) to understand the process of eventually letting go of your adult children. It still made me cry to think about.

The whole concept of radical religion and cults is very, very hard for me to understand and deal with. I find it fascinating but also extremely upsetting. My upbringing was very open and inclusive and I was told I could do or be absolutely anything... Anyone else have thoughts or opinions here?

Anyway, great book and very fast read.
