I found a pattern for making cloth diapers, and in the pictures it showed them using t-shirt material, so I guess that is alright to use. I'm wondering what everyone else uses to make theirs? Also, I have the fernandfairy pattern, are there any other sites that offer free patterns for making diapers? What is PUL, and do you have to use that, or is there something else that would work as well?

I use my brothers to small t-shirts, I also use flannel. This site has a lot of free patterns http://www.thewahmmall.com/index.php...index&cPath=46
PUL is a fabric that has a waterproof backing.
Fabric for covers - PUL, Ultrex other waterproof fabric. Or water-resistant fabrics like fleece and wool. There is a HUGE difference in fleece out there. Be careful what you buy. I suggest you ONLY buy Malden Mills fleece. If your using a 2 layer cover use 200wt fleece, if you're using a 1 layer cover, use 300wt or Windpro fleece. You cannot buy Malden Mills fleece in local fabric stores. You are pretty much going to have to buy online.

I like flannel better than t-shirts because it's easier to sew! Old towels work nicely, too. 100% cotton works the best! You can also buy commercial fabrics like bamboo or hemp that are very nice. Usually only found online.
PUL works well, but wool is another option of something you can make. Look for soft 100% wool old sweaters in your closet or at a thrift store. You can make a butt sweater (look it up on google, or in the patterns at the top of the diaper making section), or a wrap style cover, just using wool...

I love to use the RRP pattern (actually I heavily modified it so that it really isn't even that any more but it did get me started!) and I love to use flannel and 100 percent cotton. T-shirts make wonderful prefolds!
Here are a few links to patterns and information!
