I got my membranes swept yesterday. I thought I had lost my mucous plug at 34 weeks, but now I'm not so sure, because then WHAT is all this stuff! Been contracting, not that they are super strong but we planned yesterday that we would go in today, so HERE WE GO!

What exactly does getting your membranes swept intale?? (youd think I'm a 1st time mom, but I had a very easy pregnancy and a typical start of labor with my first... so...).

And may I ask, I am due the 13th also... why are you getting things going today?

Anyway, good luck!!

Sweeping membranes consists of the mw/dr putting finger through the cervix (has to be at least 1cm I think it is) and pushing around on things.

The mucus plug is constantly reforming the same mucus that was there last week is not there this week etc. So you can loose your plug every day for a week and still have more where that came from BTDT.

Good Luck with things

DDC crashing.. Membranes are stripped by a finger being inserted into the cervix and sweeping the finger around the bag of water seperating it from the wall of the uterus. It's supposed to release prostaglandins to start labor. Being swept at 1 CM might be sorta painful. I was 2 before they would do mine... Not sure though if they can at 1.
