I don't see where it says what size baby it fits now... she just has measurements on it. How much bigger would you need it than those measurements?

Probably the first thing I would do is go from DK to worsted and go up a couple needle sizes and see what my gauge looked like. But then I'm lazy like that.

the easiet way would be to use a worsted weight yarn and size 6-7 needles, and just follow the pattern as written.

the size is for 0-3 months (sorry about that).

i am horrible about what types of yarn, i already have the yarn i need to use. the yarn i have is a great wool yarn but im not sure of teh weight.

i want to make it around a 9 month size so it will fit for a bit.

do you have the ball band for your yarn, with the weight and yardage? If you post that, I can tell you what weight classification your yarn is

no, i dont have that. those bands always seem to disappear from my yarn. there must be a collection somewhere of yarn bands in my house! probably w/ all the missing socks or something! lol!

Do not knit that pattern without swatching. She says DK on size 4 needles will give 19 stitches/ 4 inches, but I don't see how those maths work. AND the original was in handspun.

The easiest way is going to be to find a fabric that you like at about 15 stitches/4 inches and follow the pattern as written.

Oh, and wash your swatch, it's a good habit to get into

i actually did the swatch on this one first. AMAZING since i never do swatches!! i obviously dont have DK yarn b/c my swatch came around to her measurements (BUT i divided her swatch by 4 and only did 1/4 of it).

flapjack, when you say "at about 15 stitches/4 inches and follow the pattern as written", do you mean to if i CO 15 stitches for 27 rows, it means 4 inches? will that increase the pattern to the size i need?

i thought this would be so easy! lol!

There are lots of larger versions on Ravelry. People have used worsted and larger needles, people have doublestranded DK with larger needles and people have changed the CO numbers.

to get the gauge, you need to measure the 4 inches from the middle of a swatch. Otherwise, your swatch may not be reliable for gauge. Here's info on how to do it: http://knitting.about.com/od/learnto...nit_swatch.htm

how did you find those?

Here's the Pebble project page from Ravelry. There's some really cute vests there!!

I go to a pattern's project page and read the comments from people who have made the particular item. When I see a blurb (or a picture) that looks like the mod I'm interested in, I click to go to that individual knitter's page for the project. I then look at not only their notes but at the yarn and needle sizes they used too.

IME Ravelry is hands down the absolute best knitting resource we have available to us today!

In addition to using a larger needle/yarn, I would add a few rows because once babies hit about 6 months, they mostly grow in length. If you made it equally big in length and width, it might be too wide. BTW- I'm definitely going to be making this for my baby!!!!
