Last night's "Lost" episode . . . grr. - Page 2

Kind of OT, but am I the only one who wonders how Aaron was being fed when he was still an infant and Claire would take off for hours/days (in the case of season 4 near the end)? It really bugs me that she's the only lactating woman on the island and she just leaves the baby for unrealistic periods of time.

Oh that does make sense!

I was kidding about the boar, BTW

He was fed a bottle of plot device.

I figured

Very right about the plot device.

I normally wouldn't have thought much about it, but seeing as I'm nursing too it made me wonder. Thank goodness it isn't a real island because they would have a VERY unhappy little babe on their hands.
I do like how Charlie made him a sling though!

That was the spoiler. A Lost thread in Birth & Beyond meant there'd be a birth in the ep. I didn't open the thread until the birth scene was over, but the damage was done just from that knowledge. I know I'm extra picky about spoilers but I thought the request to keep it in the TV forum for a day or so was reasonable...

EXACTLY!

And now I have watched the epi and can discuss it. I tried posting about the odd breech discrepancy on my Lost fanforum but it got locked. :

Aaron is a magic baby. He can survive for days in the jungle with no food and never even so much as whimper...unless of course they are hiding in the bushes from the Others.

If we remember back to the episode where Desmond meets her, and she's pretty brutal about teaching him the lesson that the universe will course-correct no matter what you do, so don't screw with it, the Ben thing becomes more logical.

He walked in on John trying to kill himself and stopped him because he thought it would screw everything up. But almost as if the universe was saying "undo what you've done NOW," Mrs Hawking gets mentioned. I think he was just making sure John would die because he suddenly realized that John was supposed to die. That's why he strangled him (as would have happened) and hung him up as if he had killed himself and let him be found by neighbors or whatever (as would have happened). If he had changed anything about the *outcome* of John killing himself, it would have course-corrected but possibly in a bad way. So he just back-tracked, kind of, and let the outcome happen after all.

At least that's what I got from it.

That makes perfect sense, and it lets me not see Ben as evil which I like. I have a really strong desire for people who are "bad" to turn out not to be. That's part of why I loved Sawyer right off the bat. I thought, "Surely there must be good in him." It influenced my entire Harry Potter experience (Snape). I imagine there is something pathological in this but I try not to think about it too much!

See the birth scenes peeve me off to but the one thing that drove me CRAZY was when they thought they we're getting off the island Sun comments"I can't believe I'm going to get to have my baby in a hospital"(w a big smile onher face) and Claire replies "Don't rub it in, I'm so jealous"

Dh was errked about that one...His comment"yeah cause having a baby in a scary, hospital is better then an enchanted jungle" I love my dh

I remember that. It bugged me too. Claire had no idea how lucky she was!

This always cracked me up. I guess the writers just figured that it wasn't an important part of the show. It really is silly though, in real life that baby would've been screaming bloody murder because it would've been so hungry. My dh and I were wondering the same thing numerous times. lol

I don't know. I actually watched the episode, but didn't really pay close enough attention. Do you think she would have had a c-section? I always think it's odd when they make birth in a hospital more natural than it would be. Like when Rachel on Friends was having her baby, and as the baby was crowning or what have you, the doctor cheerfully announced it was breech. That did not seem realistic to me.

Don't forget Phoebe's vaginal birth of triplets and the mom of the babies Chandler and Monica adopted having twins vaginally.

IRL most women who have breech babies have c-sections, unfortunately.
