First of all, due to MDC rules if we do this, we will need to take it off list. What we used in my last DDC was yahoogroups. So to make everyone happy, I just want to make clear that this is an interest thread and the actual swap info etc will be hosted somewhere other than MDC.
That said, in my last DDC we had a bead swap and everyone made birth necklaces that a lot of the mamas wore in labor and birth. We also use our as a nursing necklace. It is beautiful! (I'll see if I can dig out a pic) We all sent x number of beads (with x being the number of mamas participating plus a few extras) and an encouraging note signed by you with to the swap mama along with a Self addressed stamped FRE. The swap mama them distributed the beads so everyone got one of each and sent them back. For those of you who knew mightymama here on MDC, she was in our DDC and that necklace I have is a treasure since it has her bead in it and mightymama died a few months after giving birth.
We want to time it so that people who join the DDC a little later in their pregnancy can still get in, but early enough that everyone has the beads back before the first mama gives birth. We had a couple preemies in our DDC, so we need to keep that in mind.
