wash fabric?

I am making a diaper from Flannel and terry cloth from the webpage link of "confessions of a cloth diaper fanatic."

Are you supposed to wash the fabric first? I know in many of the patterns, you don't so that you get a quilted look. Will that happen here or should I wash first?

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with that pattern, but if it's a fitted diaper of any kind, I'd wash first. If it's a flat or prefold, I wouldn't.

Will you combine fabrics? or are you using them in two separate dipes? If you are using them together i would for sure wash them because if they don't shrink the same amount, you're in trouble.

I tend to like to wash everything first, that way I know that the size I make it will be the same size later!

When I was new to sewing I made some cloth wipes without pre-washing the fabrics and they shrunk at totally different rates.

thanks ladies! They are different fabrics, so I'll get them in the wash!
