Help - how to find a book from MY childhood? *UPDATE- FOUND!!*

Ugh, I can't remember the exact title or author. I've thought about this book A LOT over the years, and would LOVE to be able to find it again.

It was a hardcover, red, and it had Goldilocks & the 3 bears on the cover, all standing on a piece of ground. It must've been from the late 70's or early 80's.

How could I try to find it?? I tried looking on eBay & Amazon, no luck. I would know it when I saw it - I can see it in my mind, but can't remember the title or author.

Any ideas?

Do you remember what it was about? Was it a fairy tale collection, or just the story of Goldilocks? You probably need to get a little more specific. I just googled vintage children's books and found a few online stores with lots of pictures.

I recently found a book from my childhood, but I knew more about the title. It was pricey, though!

Have you tried google images? Maybe an image search for "goldilocks book"?

I think it was a collection of different nursery rhymes or fairy tails, but not positive.

Yes, and I haven't seen it yet, but then again it's like 50,000+ pages it seems .

This is going to be next to no help, but, I think I know the book you're talking about. It was a red hardcover compilation of stories, maybe with Treasury in the title. And I remember it because my sister had it and a blogger posted a picture on her site recently. But which blogger, I have no idea. If I find the picture again, I'll post the link.

You might also try the Loganberry Stump the Bookseller feature.

I actually own a book that sounds similar. Did your book ONLY have Goldilocks & Three Bears on it? Or were there other images on the cover? And was it a collection of fairy tales?

The book I have ... it's in the room where my son is napping so I'll wait until he wakes and then post the title and a picture if I can find it. I hope my book is the same one. I was given the book when I was a child in the 1970s. It was a collection of children's fairy tales. I read it over and over. And the book was huge and it was red.

AND I NEVER EVER look at this subforum ever. Never. And today for some reason I did so I hope I have the book. I can't recall the title either but like I said, once the babe wakes up, I'll get back to you.

Good luck!

Well, I'm guessing this is NOT the book because I don't think it has Goldilocks on the cover. But then again, it does sound a lot like your book and it is a book that I recalled for years and years until my parents finally found it in their basement and handed it over to me.

Please let me know either way!

I've found a couple of my old favorites this way.

Don't you love the internet?

I had that book. I'd forgotten about until seeing this. Cool!

Oh wow, we have that book too. How funny! I love these long-lost mystery book threads.

And what if you know the name of the book, and can't find a copy? I want a book called "Apple and Charlotte" by Edith Lea Elias from 1940, and I can't find a copy anywhere.

Neat! I have so many memories about hiding away in a closet with a battery-powered lamp & just reading this book. I wanted to find it again so my kids might have some memories of the same.

Oh, that's hard. I have no idea. I'd try posting to craigslist or Frecycle or the like to see if anyone might have a copy somewhere.

Did you win the auction?

When you know the title, you can submit it to booksellers for searching. I don't know what kind of fee they charge, but it might be worth a look. Here's one seller who does searches:
