When you hire upholstery cleaners do they clean it with chemicals?

We rent a rug doctor with the upholstery attachment. I guess you could just add water without the soap (chemicals) if you are looking for a chemical-free clean...

We need to do this as DS puked all over the couch earlier today!

We have both a bissel floor/carpet cleaner and also a little green. We would simply put hot water either with a little dissolved baking soda and some EO and used that to clean. I didnt want to use chemicals on our furniture and carpets with the kids. I frequently cleaned this way and our carpets/furniture look fine. I also spot clean immediately any spills/stains. There is a product called natures miracle that is a great spot cleaner.
