Yes, this was the thinking and that's why they used to do it this way and why some are still trained to do it this way. But my doc says that the evidence is that this is not true (it does not minimize scar tissue and adhesions) and all it does is lengthen the operation time thus presenting more risk for infection. In her defense, that is what the studies that I have been able to pull from the internet say ... but I am just skeptical -just seems like it's less work for them to do, ya know? It kind of seems like cutting corners to me. I don't know, I just feel like if you cut it open you should close it... so I am a bit nervous. Then again, the faster I get closed the faster I can enjoy the baby properly so that's a thoght - if it really doesn;t make a difference, fine I'd rather get this over with asap....

Either way, I am defintiely glad we talked about what exactly she would do, how and why. I liked that she knows I am concerned and promised to keep that in mind and keep me apprised during the operation.

I will be having another amnio that moringing at 8:15a then I will go straight to the hospital and get the results and start preparing for c-section if the results are good. I hope a week and a half has done a lot to mature those lungs. My weight has increased this week by at least 5 lbs. I knew I was hungrier and that a growth spurt was happening, I had just hoped that I was not the one growing, but what baby gains 5 lbs in 1 week? Any ways, I've got nesting to do.
Goodluck tomorrow. I hope that your babies lungs are well developed and all goes smoothly. Enjoy your baby moon!

My OB's are big believers in closing everything up, all of it, some with big stitches & most of it with tiny stitches--its supposed to prevent scar tissue. When i was opened up for my second section (first was done the proper "long" way) they saw very little scar tissue. The thing with sewing less started with GYN surgery and it became popular to let stuff shut on its own, but my OB explained that when they open up ladies who were barey sewn, it shows, in lots and lots of scar tissue. You are right to check on this, its worth it, to avoid adhesions.

See, this is my suspicion ... I 'know' her partner sews up the bladder flap "because that is how she was trained" do you think I should look into what else she sews? and going with her... My c-section is in a week!

So, when are people scheduled for?

I fantasize about having a VBAC as MaryTheres did....but there's just the one little catch: the hospital doesn't support it, so it wouldn't be as "simple" as lucking into a vbac-friendly doc.

Baby arrived safely via the most beautiful c-section I have ever experienced! I watched as he was delivered. I announcrd or exclaimed, "He's a boy!" She let the cord stop pulsing before cutting it and left a longer length to it so my husband could cut it. The baby came straight to my chest and I was responsible or his temp and rubbing his back to stimulate him! He was so cheesy! During his first two hours of life, he was taken only once by my husband so I could move from the OR table to mt recovery bed - 30 seconds! His lungs were fine. I just wanted to update, but I have to run, my bigger babies are out of the tub.

iluvbnamomma had her baby!

Eliza Mae was born at 3:33pm yesterday! She's 5 lbs, 5 oz and 18.5 inches long. She's a little peanut and she looks like her big brother.

The c-section went well and baby and mama are healthy. They're working on breastfeeding now. She sends her good wishes to everyone!
