Dyeing PUL?

Anyone have any experience dyeing PUL? I have a pink striped PUL diaper cut that I purchased a couple of years ago to make a diaper for my daughter, who is now three and out of diapers, so I'm going to make it for my son. I'm okay putting him in a pink diaper, but figured I should at least make an attempt to try to turn it into a different color.

Anyone know what readily available dyes, if any, might work?

Thanks!

PUL can indeed be dyed! The fabric backing (substrate) that the PU film is laminated to is normally polyester, so a dye that works on polyester should work on your PUL. Another option would be to use acrylic paints (thinned a little with water), I've seen some pics of painted PUL that was very pretty!

The problem that you face is really that you'll be overdying, so you need to keep your base color(s) in mind when you choose your color. If you dye the pink PUL cut with blue dye for your son, you'll end up with something in the purple family
Good luck, HTH!

Great! Thanks for the pointers. I have some scraps that I can test to figure out the coloring and I'll see what dyes I can find at the craft store.
