Going swimmig, need a diaper?

Kind of a silly questions...we are going on vacation to FL (we'll be in Key West, so swimming in the ocean) in a couple weeks and I bought my little guy (14 months old) a cute little top and bottom swimsuit. Then I got to thinking about whether or not he would wear a diaper underneath...what do people do about that? I'm assuming that he should wear a diaper (in case he has a BM). I saw the swim diapers at Target, but wasn't really convinced we need them (may as well use a disposable). Then I got to thinking, would my cloth diapers work just as well (with a cover of course).

We don't do EC or anything like that. We cloth diaper at home but he uses disposables at day care. Just curious what others do. Thanks!

Just use a cover, nothing underneath, or a pocket without an insert. Never use a regular sposie (the swim ones are different). Swim diapers are made to catch poop, but not be absorbent, otherwise you end up with the whole ocean in your baby's pants!

I second the cover or just the swim suit if it is form fitting. Cloth would get to saturated and so would disp.

The disposable will literally explode 'cause it just keep absorbing the water. In the ocean it is less important than a pool to catch the poop - lol. We use a cloth "swim diaper" but really just a cover would work fine.

I always buy the swim bottoms that have the built in diaper. Meaning the elastic is tight enough to prevent poop from coming out. If yours doesn't have that the cloth swim diapers at target work or just a tight fitting PUL cover.
