enamel loss...anything I can do?

Thread Starter
The backs of my front teeth have severe enamel loss. The hygentist accused me of purging, even after I assured her that I never have.

I'm pregnant and would like to avoid flouride, but I'd liek to do something for my teeth.

Any info??

I'd address it the same was as a cavity. See that crazy-long thread that's stickied above? That'd be my approach.

enamel loss

It sounds as though you have acid erosion of your enamel. Purging is one way this happens, but there are several other ways. This can include gastric reflux (stomach acid coming up into the mouth), habits involving something acid (ie. sucking on lemons which contain citric acid). Unfortunely, once you loose your enamel, it can not "grow" back.
The first thing I would do is find out the source of the problem so that you can prevent further breakdown of enamel.
If the breakdown is not that bad, you may just choose to leave it. If there is considerable about of breakdown, crowns may be needed.
