Can I give toddler and baby garlic supplement?

I just heard about a mom who gives her toddlers garlic supplements every night to boost their immune system. She buys the garlic oil capsules and then just squirts them in their mouths and washes it down with water. Does anyone know if this is okay to do (long term) all throughout the winter months and is it okay to do with a 7 month old baby as well? My kids just seem to keep getting sick and my 7 month old is fighting an ear infection and I am avoiding antibiotics if I can. I just began putting garlic oil in his ear, but want to bolster his immune system more. Thanks ladies!

I would probably check with a doctor or naturopath before I would give my infants garlic. It is probably fine for a toddler, but I don't know about an infant. Like you said, there are garlic oils designed specifically for ear infections that are probably okayed for infants, but I don't know about taking it orally for them. I would definitely speak with a healthcare professional. Personally, when I am looking at supplements to boost the immune system, I also tend to give them primarily during cold and flu season, or when I know my little one will be exposed to many germs, as opposed to giving them all year. Something else to think about.

DD loves to eat whole garlic cloves roasted with veggies. It's one of her favorite foods. I would go with real food over a supplement.
