Dental x-rays

The day before yesterday (how quickly life can change!) I took dd to the dentist and they took dental x-rays. The nurse said, "She can sit on your lap, but if there's any chance you might be pregnant, you shouldn't even be in this room." I said, "Nah, I'm not pregnant, we decided to quit while we're ahead," and swaggered on in.

Dd was sitting in my lap and there was a lead shield on her, so the baby was protected...right...right?

When we were TTC my dentist asked if I was pregnant before x-rays, since we were trying I said there could be a chance, so they didn't do the x-rays. As we were walking away, she said the odds of anything happening to the baby were VERY VERY VERY slim since it is really focused on the mouth area, they just ask to cover their a$$es. I think with DD and the lead blanket, you are probably safe! Maybe call your OB if it would make you feel better. I am a worry nut, so I completely understand your feelings.

I'm in a similar place. I had dental x-rays before I found out, too. They had a lead apron over my chest, abdomen, and pelvis, and the shots were extremely short directed at my jaw. I am choosing not to worry. Usually, I'm extremely cautious about radiation during pregnancy - don't put the cell in my pocket, don't stand next to a microwave. But I'm reasoning that many radiologists work throughout their pregnancies in rooms with radiation, wearing lead aprons, and they go on to have healthy babies. I'm not saying I would choose to do that, but it calms my mind about something I can't go back and change.

My gut would say that your baby is okay, too. I understand your feelings, and hope your mind eases.
