Hello,
DD is 27 months old, and I'm starting to think about weaning. I like the idea of CLW, and am wondering when most kids wean if left to their own devices. How does the process work? Do they just stop one day, do they slowly decrease nursing over time? What can I expect in the next little while?

And how do toddlers/preschoolers understand the process? I'd like to know what goes on in their heads, and what your experiences were with conversations with your little ones about nursing/weaning. Share share share!

Well every child is different, I have done and am still practicing CLW, my dd first weaned at 2.10 months when I was 7 months pg with ds, she looked very serious and told me that mamma's milk was for the baby, then just after the birth and a particularly traumatic time for us all she asked to nurse and continued for another 18 months alongside her brother, the nursing diminished very slowly and sometimes would go 2 weeks before asking to nurse again I waited for 6 weeks before officially deciding that she had weaned, she often speaks about nursing and how much she liked it and how she will nurse her own children so there are definitely positive stories and experiences for our children to extended nursing, ds at 3.8 years is showing no signs of weaning and nurses between 4 and 5 times a day, but as I say every child is different and there are some children that do stop from one day to the next. it just depends. Good luck with the CLW.
