holding yarn double

does this mean you need 2 skeins of yarn? ive never done this but recently came across the recommendation in a pattern.

what's the yardage requirement listed in the pattern? If it's less than one skein of yarn, then you can just wind the one skein off into two equal balls. Otherwise, if it requires more yardage than is in one skein, yes, you'll work from two skeins at once

Or you can work from both ends of the skein, a little tricky, but I've done it.

I've been doing this recently for a project that needs heavier yarn than I had. I rolled a skein into a center pull ball, then I am knitting by holding the end that comes out of the center, along with the end that comes off of the outside.

Not tricky at all, much easier than juggling two balls of yarn actually
