Needless to say, I'm cool with that as long as it is all true when I am actually there.
Wow, sounds like a great hospital! My midwife, after reading my birth plan and seeing the part about no artificial nipples or formula, warned me that the nurses at my hospital will slip the baby things like this if you leave them in their care. That makes me really sad. I have no plans of letting the baby out of my or DH's sight, but other people's babies are subject to that if they aren't as adamant about this issue as I am.

I started packing the hospital bag last night...made me feel a little closer to as I'm only 35 weeks. DD keeps asking if I'm going to the hospital today. I have been prepping her for who/where she might be when I go in. I have a list of 6 people...but I'm praying my mom will be available and have no hesitation no matter what time it is.

I made a few rice bags too. And am going shopping this weekend for the rest of the labor items.

For those of you refusing hep B/eye drops & vit K. Can you fill out the exemption forms when you pre register or is that something you have to do once you're admitted? I would like to get it pre recorded but don't really want to "out" myself if it's going to cause a comotion until I'm admitted.

Awww man - I forgot about the rice in the sock! Thanks for the reminder!

And I don't know about when to sign for exemption...I would ask but I don't want to be on "spotlight" either.

rice in sock to warm up like a heating pad???
Rice in sock for heating in the microwave to use like heating pads...they told us about those at birth class last night!

I packed my bag (except the stuff I use every day) I need to make a list to put on top for what I still need to stick in there.

I also need to find all of my 'to do' lists and make one master list to do. Bleh. I feel like I am running out of time all of the sudden and I have so much to finish up at work and at home !!! Anyone else feeling the so much to do so little time feeling????

Yep, use it as a heat pack. Heat it in the microwave for 2 or 3 minutes and it holds its heat for a long time!

Ooh I like it!!!! My DH's friend's Mom makes these bags out of corn that are very similar. I'm definitley going to bring rice in socks!!!!

hmm I think i might have to make one and put in my bag. I know they have a microwave there so we could warm it up. I heard that afterwards heat on your vaginal area helps sometimes more than ice or cold things.

I can imagine it would feel nice! The lady who taught my class said that they encourage you to keep ice on there right after the delivery for as long as possible to manage swelling.

On where? I thought it was for your back? At least that's what they told us at my Breathing and Relaxation class

She told us they put in on a pad or those undies or whatever but that they want it on your vaginal/perineal area for as long as possible right after the birth.

nancy---you might just be surprised at how nice the ice feels after all that stretching going on down there!

I thought the same thing, but especially after I tore with my ds and had stitches, the ice was nice!!!

Now I'm done being Dr. Suess!

I'm not a fan of direct ice, but I'm sure it will be welcome after all the delicious trauma.

Actually, I really will just want Ibuprofen. will I finally be allowed to take it?

after my last birth at the hospital, the nurses showed me a stash of frozen maxi-pads.
They had soaked some Stayfree pads with water, then rolled them up like a cinnamon roll, and froze them in the freezer. This is what I sat on, it seems goofy but it worked quite nicely.

I finished my rice bags last night...I bought way to much rice...so will donate it to our church pantry as I'll never use it! My DH made a good point not to fill it tooo full as it'll take forever to heat up.

Still packing my bag: I bought slippers, hard candy, mama bottom spray, small bottles for my tea tree oil hand lotion and body wash, hair clips, etc...

I also got a folder and put the birth plan, labor help sheets from our Bradley class last time, and a sign for the door for visitors.

I"m not sure everything will fit in my bag, but DH will have a small bag so I'll put my robe in it to save space.

I'm really getting excited! I imagine myself going through the labor/delievery all the time. I have another midwife appt Thurs and then next Fri I do the GBS test...praying for a neg result this time!

For some strange reason I've been worrying about sleeping in the hospital room with baby there...like someone could come take baby while DH and I are sleeping. Now I'm a very very light sleeper and I didn't even have this concern with DD in the hospital so not sure what my worry is about?
