How many wipes?

We use cloth diapers for DS, but never really figured out a good system for cloth wipes, so we just used disposable.
Now for new baby, I have been making cloth wipes. (2 layers of flannel, turned and top stitched). I have 40 so far. I guess I wonder how many I need. I will use them for DS as well, but not more than 3-4 per day for him. I will probably wash every other to every 3rd day. I do have more flannel, but would like to move on to more creative projects. What do you think?

I think 40 is more than enough. I wash every 3rd day (or even 4th if I throw some disposables in there) and I dont have nearly that many wipes. I just bought one yard of unbleached organic flannel and made 4X4 (I think) wipes. I think I may have 20 and that seems to be good for us.

40 sounds fine.
Move on to other projects and if you find you need more you can reapproach it again.

Welcome to cloth wipes. I think you will find it to be one of the easiest and money saving moves you will make in the cloth world.

I think we have 50-60. I was just eyeing all those receiving blankets we got and I've cut some for diapers, and I'm thinking of making wipes out of the rest.

Seriously, you can't have too many of these things. We use for noses, family cloth, baby cloth. A great thing to have around.

I think 40 should be plenty...you can always make more if you need them! With my ds (2 yr), we only use like 4 a day. But nb poop a whole lot, so I know I'll need to make more for #2 (due Aug!)...

We have about 3 dozen, but I have enough to use them for hands, noses, and baby bottoms. 40 should be plenty.

You're going to use less cloth wipes on a dirty bum than you would with disposables (I was amazed the first time I cleaned up a dirty tush with ONE cloth wipe, when that job would normally take 3 or 4 disposale ones.)

I think 40 is fine. We have a bit more than that, but like SeekingJoy, use them for hands and noses too.

I say one per diaper plus and extra dozen in case of really big poops and also to keep on the sink for faces and hands.

Cloth wipes are way better than disposable wipes - they get the bum so much cleaner. My system is to keep a squeeze bottle of water mixed with Honey Chunks wipe solution in my diapering basket (or on your changing table) and just wet one wipe at a time. The water is room temp and the baby doesn't mind that.
