What should I get for my one month old?

My baby is almost a month old and ~10.5 lbs now.

I need a baby carrier but I can't decide what to get. I have a limited amount of funds to spend on a carrier.

I need something that is:

1. comfortable for both of us
2. easy to use
3. affordable (can't spend over ~$100 at the most)

I've thought about getting a Sleepy Wrap or a Moby Wrap but I'm not sure how long I'll be able to use a wrap?? Is a wrap better for just the newborn stage? I've also though about getting an Ergo carrier but will it work well with a baby this age? Or are Ergos better for older babies?

What would you suggest? I'm not really very experienced with babywearing.

I've had a hotsling ever since my oldest was born but I don't really like it (and my kids haven't liked it either so I haven't used it much). I don't like ring slings either.

Thanks!

hmmmm...a stretchy wrap is nice for a newborn, but start to sag somewhere b/w 15-20lbs. There is a hybrid stretchy called the gypsy mama bali breeze stretch (wrapsody) that is soft and comfy but sturdier than a moby. I backwrapped my 20lb toddler in it.

You could also get a nice woven wrap that would work from newborn through toddler/preschooler. There are lots of brands. Check out thebabywearer.com for advice, reviews and fsot.

The ergo really excels for older babes, after about 4 or 5 months. The hotsling is okay (tummy to tummy) for shorter (time) carries. What kind of ringsling have you tried? I had a padded one that didn't fit me properly so I could never get it tight enough - I thought I hated RSs too. Then I tried a nice unpadded one (sleeping baby productions) and love it, for both newborns and toddlers. You could also use a mei tai from newborn through toddler. Lots of options and lots of good prices too. Happy shopping!

Personally, I would say to go with the ergo (with infant insert). It works pretty good for my 2 month old who is about 11 pounds. It is more bulky than a wrap so I tend to use my moby a lot more at this stage, but I could easily surrive with just the ergo.
