Swimming pools in or around Tacoma or Olympia

Where are they? The only pool I know of right now is in Fife and it's only open 2 hours at a time. Are there others in the area that are open right now? Tacoma or Olympia doesn't matter since we're right in the middle of them. Thanks!

There are pools through Metro Parks in Tacoma that offers free swim times. Also, you may want to check with the Clover Park School District to see if either of their High School's offer a free swim program.

Best of Luck,

I think Lacey Parks & Rec has a swimming program? From what I've heard they utilize the pools at the 3 high schools in Lacey.

I have a friend who teaches at a pool in Tumwater, I think. I'll try to find out what it is. Otherwise, there's the Y.

Lacey Parks & Rec has a swimming program that is only active in the summer when school's out. Local YMCA's also have indoor swimming pools that are open, along with a few gyms as well. AFAIK, there are no public pools in the Olympia area. I'm not sure about Tacoma.

In Tacoma, there's Titlow (only open in Summer), UPS (the college), Stewart Heights (Summer), PLU (the college), Eastside pool, People's pool and all of the YMCA.

Its costly to join but it seems that in this area the YMCAs are the best bet. From what I've noticed they are VERY careful about ph and chlorine levels, and will close the pool if the level is even slightly off. Another plus for the Y pools is that many are saline based, which means much lower levels of chlorine. My dd has been swimming at the Puyallup Y pool since she was 6m, and has never had the typical red pool eyes, or complained about getting splashed in the face, etc. Swimming lessons are also free for members!

Thanks! I think we might have to join the Y. I've been avoiding it cause I don't want to spend the money.

Lacey Parks & Rec swimming program goes year round, not just when school isn't in session. My son is in Sunday swim lessons right now. They also have open swim times on Saturdays and lots of adult swim time, water exercise, etc. Right now the pool they are using is River Ridge, which is the closest to Ft. Lewis. Swim lessons are $45 for 8 or 10 weeks(I don't remember)and the open swim is $4 per person

Puyallup High Schools have public swim in downtow Puyallup (Puyallup High School) and on South Hill at Rogers. Both have info on the school websites. Nice pools!

We moved to Yelm a few years ago,and were shocked that there aren't any good (cheap) swimming options within 30 minutes of us. Closest is the Tumwater Y.....Isn't there a nice pool on Fort Lewis you can use?

There are pools on Ft. Lewis but the one used most for recreation is being remodeled from my understanding.

Pools

There are lots of great recommendations here, but no one mentioned Discover Aquatics in Olympia. It is a bromine pool vs chlorine.

Happy Swimming!
