What do you use for mouthwash?

Just curious? I read that commercial mouthwash has been linked to mouth cancer so I'm wondering what you all use for mouthwash?

I don't use mouthwash often but, like right now, I have a spot where a popcorn hull was lodged in my gums. It hurts like a son of a gun and in the past, I would just rinse, rinse, rinse with mouthwash but, I don't want to do that now.

Any ideas on a bacteria killing mouthwash?

I don't usually use mouthwash, and in the past I have used commercial. Now I would use salt and warm water I think. Or even just water!

Salty water is what dentists tend to recommend when there is a mouth sore involved

Hydrogen peroxide kills the yuckies! Gargle and rinse!

Really? I did not know that. I use ACT, because it has fluoride. I have had a HUGE problem with cavities in the past, and so now I am really taking measures to stop getting cavities.

Could you tell me more about this possible link?

*4 oz. Water (or try a sage or rosemary tea infusion)
* 4 oz. Vodka
optional and simply sweetens the mouthwash
* 10-12 drops Peppermint or Spearmint Essential Oil or Cinnamon or clove or? we made one that is Bergamot Orange...the choices are endless
* 5 drops Myrrh (optional - Myrrh can assist in mouth and gum care)

Directions: Boil the water and vodka. Remove from the heat and let cool for 10 minutes. Add the essential oils and let cool for 1/2 hour and bottle.

And, cavity prevention and reversal is easy.... We practice this with full results.
Never eat processed foods, never use toothpaste or mouthwash that contains glycerine, and drink raw milk to prevent future cavities.
To heal present ones, take High vitamin butter oil with hight vitamin cod liver oil. And of course the raw milk.
Our teeth are hard again, and my cavities are gone:
We brush our teeth with baking soda and salt as well as using the above mouthwash as needed. No more fuzzies either!

We use Tom's of Maine's mouthwash....

Rcr, you may want to google dangers of flouride and cavities as there is good evidence that flouride does more longtime harm than good. We avoid it like the plague here... use flouride free tooth paste as well.

Awesome! Thank you so very much! My husband is a huge mouthwash user and he's really struggling since I dumped it all out. I have all the ingredients except the vodka which I will get today and will try this out. I really appreciate it!

Uh oh. Now I'm confused.

The problem with commercial mouthwash is the ethanol.

I just read that vodka is water and ethanol so, I'm thinking vodka is out too?
