HIB Questions And Confusions Do I Do Vax

Ok I have kept myself from the vax forms for sometime ,I seen alot in the past month have been talking about HIB and the vax.....


I had to read and now I am unsure of my non vax status for this vaccine.

I breastfeed for 20 months......I have read some swedish report about the longer you bf the more protection the babe has after you stop bf against hib.

Now as for reading everyone elses comments on MDC I am super confused.I am kinda a ditz,I actually sometimes feel weird being on mdc and reading the mag as I dont look very crunchy or act very crunchy.I wear a face of makeup and was a cheerleader in high school LOL.............

Anyhow back to the point I am super confused by ALL of this then I read the USA artical about the kids in Minn?

I dont do daycare,my DC are age 6 and 2 the older had enough vaxes as a babe.We try and eat healthy but its not like we are as healthy eaters as I know some of you mommas are we eat are fair share of junk food

So what do I about this vax I would prefer no vax.

LO dad does always visit so they stay at hotels all the time as EX will not stay with me yuck ........The hotel thing kinda bugs me germ wise.


I am so so confused by this,I have read it all and still so confused.I dont want to make a mistake.My mommy instinct says no on all the other vaxes but this one I feel weird doing it but might feel relived getting it done.

LOL its funny how I havent even thought about it untill yesterday....


I know in 81 when I was a baby I didnt have this vax.I know my DTP vax damaged cousin he got very sick after the DTP but is fine today ..

My point is are parents smoked on is in utero : and out....We were feed soy formula and in daycare,and ate junk....We are fine and that was before the vax.Thankfully our parents dont smoke anymore....

Not sure what your question is, so I'll toss out some of my thinking on hib.

we weren't vaxed for it and never worried

hib is nearly always so benign as to not even be reported- pre-vax nearly all kids were immune by 5 with no recorded illness

the vax has not reduced total numbers of cases of meningitis- other bacteria fill the void.

Thank You Angela....LOL I know that my message was all over and really didn't make a lot of sense.When I stress I kinda cant think straight....Hib is the most confusing one of the vaxes I DONT UNDERSTAND anything about it.......I hear about the kids in I think Minnosota.How scary and some of the other topics posted around MDC has my mind a spinning.There is alot on my mind about this but really I dont know where to start.I just recall the study about the longer you Bf that when you are done nursing you have basically years and years of protection...I mean I have no clue how true it is???????

Regarding the Minn outbreak, I wouldn't let that get to you, because the CDC probably has data from every other state that presents a completely different picture, but they only send out a press release when it will fearmonger the non and S&D vaxers.

In a nutshell, I don't know. As long as you're breastfeeding, I wouldn't worry about it, but it might not be a bad idea to vax for hib after weaning.

The more I read the threads about HIB on here, the more I feel that I am doing the right thing by NOT vaxing for this. We BF and DS is in a small home daycare.

I breastfeed for 20 months LO weaned 8 months ago.So thats what confuses me and the swedish study.....I am just throwing some links out there and some I dont quite even understand but they look interesting and thought some might be able to look them over and comment.I cant find the sweedish study I hope someone has that so I can read it.....TIA
