The new system idea

For those of who don't know me, I am the most obsessive cloth diaper-er in the history of ever. Hi, everyone.

For this new little one, I want the PERFECT STASH that I never achieved with dd. My idea is to have 3 dozen identical diapers for the core stash, then if I need other diapers for special situations, I can get however many of those I need, as I go along.

I've decided to go with fitteds. I DO love prefolds, but there are times when fitteds work better, such as with diarrhea or when you're trying to put a diaper on a kid who's asleep in a weird position.

I've pretty well decided on organic cotton MEOS after the first month or two. For newborn fitteds I'm undecided--we loved Kissaluvs last time but I'm thinking the Green Mountain infant fitteds look good, and they're cheaper. What do you guys think?

For covers, fleece pants, Rikki Wraps...?

For covers I always suggest Nikky's -- my all time fav and best performer. Even if you only get one for at night, they are so worth the money. http://naturalbaby.stores.yahoo.net/afnikdiapcov.html

or

Wool.

Welcome back to cloth! Again.

We like the GMD infant fitteds. They have lasted longer on my daughter then the kissaluvs. The K's left marks on her legs. They don't come in cute colors though!

Dh nixed the GMD fitteds because he doesn't like velcro diapers. I think also because he seriously loved the Kissaluvs last time. I'd never thought I would see a man going so ga-ga over a diaper!

I suppose I should wait until the next time the outlet store opens and then snap them up. But I love the colors (we had all unbleached last time) so I may see if I can snap some of those up, new. I've already promised dh not to buy any diapers until we're past the danger zone.

I already have 4 MEOS, which obviously isn't enough, but I'm not going to worry about buying those until after the birth. One misconception I had last time was that I had to have every single thing I would ever need for the baby purchased by the beginning of the third trimester. But a lot of people gave us things at the last minute or waited until after she was born.

I know you are obsessive over having a system, but it is good to have variety, and flexibility to change your mind. I totally feel you b/c I, too, have the urge for everything to be the same and in even numbers/base-12. But I discovered that I can branch out and it is okay.

Having said that, do get some of the KLs since your husband likes them and will use them and help you. I also like prefolds for night-time double-diapering.

My current love is Bummis Super Whisper Wrap covers. They are so well-made and don't stain and the leg elastic covering doesn't fray or stain. Just a great cover, and they have cute prints.
