Wow!! You will not believe what dh said this morning!!!

I had not told him at all about my post I had made regarding his wanting the baby to still be circumcised. BUT, when he woke up today, he told me he had done research. OK..RESEARCH! You know, my dh never researched anything beyond work and Pittsburg Steelers. Oh..he seems to read a lot of politics too..but nothing child or family related or health related or anything. So this is already amazing.

He started with asking me if I ever had sex with someone who was not circumcised. (neither of us were virgins when we met). I said no, but I was already on the defense because I figured he was just working his way in to telling me why to circ again. Instead, he goes on to tell me he had researched on the internet and it turns out...then he gives me a graphic description of how both the man and woman feel more sexual pleasure when the man is not circumcised. He goes in to details on this. He also told me at some point about how only in America do they still seem to be doing routine circumcision. I told him how I did not know anyone from when our oldest was born (he is 14 yrs old) on down who was circumcised.

THEN..get this...I pointed out how we have gone along with every routine care with our children until a short while ago. Ok..so, we did sleep with out first born, which was our first "revolt" against modern suggestions. Then we never did the chicken pox vaccination. Now we have stopped vaccinating. I pointed out how our oldest has brain damage and such from an induction gone bad and how another one of our children died from medical error. And how maybe, just maybe, we need to leave nature alone.

He agreed!! He went off on how he thinks our first born would be an absolutely amazing child if it were not for the birth trauma. How we screwed up by allowing such a thing. Yes, we did. I will always regret that.

So...we decided!!!! I am shocked and amazed!!!

Now..just to convince DD, LOL. (she has been very very involved, she has lots and lots of ideas).

Wow, what a wake-up call! It is a wonderful gift that you are united in this decision!

That's really awesome that you can finally agree on the issue. I can imagine how stressful it was. It took months to get my DH over vaccination. Circumcision was easier, funny enough... But he'll reluctantly read whatever I put in front of him. At least I can get that much out of him.

I am courious about the bold statement, where do you live? You don't know anyone in that age range who is circumcised? That's great.

That's wonderful! And the fact that he came to the conclusion himself makes it more powerful. Yay!

She has an opinion about circumcision? I hope she was not thinking of it in a positive way.

I am in Texas. It is not like I know the intact status of 100's of boys, but of those I do know, like the babies from Le Leche League and the ones from the homeschool group, and a small handful of additional people, they did not circ. Maybe it is just the people I hang around. But at least 3 of the little boys were ones I knew from other ways, like dh's work.

Also, maybe it just does not get discussed when the baby is cut, as opposed to intact. When you go against the grain, I think it gets discussed more.

I didn't think you had that kind of information but it's still a strong statement when you think about it. I have to concur with your last paragraph in another way. A lot of times when I see a blog post it's talking about why they didn't/won't circumcise and it seems like it's very common but it might be like you said, people only talk about it when they go against the 'grain'. But that's ok because when others research it that's all they see.
