s/o exercise slugs: wanna be exercise buddies?

This thread is for those of us who weren't so good about exercising regularly before pregnancy, but who would like to start. Whatever speed or frequency you are doing is fine. This is a support only thread. Fit mamas are more than welcome to join us to cheer, encourage, answer questions, whatever, but please keep in mind that we are mamas who don't exercise, who are getting started. KWIM?

Anyhow, I live in MI and we have had a really bad winter and I was planning on exercising more regularly once the weather improved and I could walk with the stroller. I'm a little fluffy, but chasing 6 kids has kept me from being really fat, but I am definitely out of shape. My DH is fluffy and we want to walk together. This pregnancy was a surprise, and I know that I have a irritable uterus from my other pregnancies, which means that once I get to a certain point when I walk I start having massive contractions. SOOOOOO, I need to kick my butt in gear and get in as good of shape as I can before that happens.

My plan is to walk everyday for at least 30 mins (I'll try for more, but 30 mins is the minimum) (or Wii fit if the weather is bad) and take Sundays off. I plan to post here.

Anyone want to join me/kick my butt off the couch?

I'm in too, that is I'm in until my irritable uterus also kicks into gear. I'm so glad I'm not the only one with irritable uterus in this ddc. We can commiserate together when that happens.

I'm so excited to see this thread! My last pregnancy I was still teaching dance (and did until I was 7 months) so I felt decent about my fitness level, but still wasn't as good as I could have been. I gained 50 lbs and my DD was a month early!
This time around I'm going into it with absolutely NO exercise routine in place and I definitely have been feeling completely out of shape. My best bud and I are actually wanting to start walking together...and plan on walking in our local March of Dimes walk in April. I think having that goal will help me set the routine.
Looking forward to cheering each other on!

I absolutely want in. I didn't exercise and ate horribly my first pregnancy. It took me 19 months to start to lose the weight and just recently did I get to pre-pg weight (and of course now I'm pg).

I'm NOT going down that road again. EXERCISE!!! Now I just need a plan

Checking in 3/9
I did 15 mins on the Wii fit. Its not 30 mins, I know. But I did get off my butt and actually do it and I was winded and sweaty after 15 mins. (Holy cow, who would think that hula hooping would totally kick my @ss?

Did anybody else do anything today? Post! I wanna hear about it!

I'm in. I posted in the other thread saying that I wanted to start exercising more so it will be nice to have a support thread. I walked last night with DS in the stroller and I plan on going again tonight when I get home from work.

I ended up walking about 30 minutes last night with DS in the stroller- part of it was uphill so I was able to get a good sweat going! I'll be trying to go again tonight.

Well... I did 12 hours of parent teacher conferences yesterday. After that all I wanted to do was crawl in bed with my boys and SLEEP!! Not a very good start! Hopefully exercising will give me some energy - I am so tired every minute of the day!

I really want to try to keep up my exercises. The last couple mornings just were so hard to get up and going, so I skipped the morning runs to be at work on time... I need to figure out a way to do exercises around me feeling sluggish, tired, nauseous. Any tips? Dancing and Singing seems to help a little bit so far - but I don't dare to dancing at my desk at work

Did yoga on Sunday and some calisthenics (sp) that felt great, but then Monday was nauseous again. Hoping it doesnt get bad so I can get moving! I'd love to be able to walk 2 miles briskly and still be able to function!

I was a bad girl and didn't excercise. I like walking outside and it is just way too cold. I heard it was -51 C (-59.8 F) with the wind chill last night. And it somehow the whole walking outside went through the window, along with all our hot air. So I'm wondering if shivering in our house all day long counts for excercise? Actually no I am going to get my butt into gear today and pick up some toys and put on an excercise video. You girls have inspired me.

Anyone still trying to get some exercise?

I've gone walking every night this week after work- it's a good workout pushing DS too. I'n hoping to stay in the habit. I haven't gotten to the point where I am exhausted all the time so maybe the walking is helping give me more energy.

Hello! No one had posted in awhile, so I thought I'd check in. I finally got off my lazy behind and started walking this week. I put my treadmill in front of our computer and play netflix instant movies while I walk. Right now I'm watching The Business of Being Born (again). It helps me to have something to watch while I work out. I've also been shadow boxing with 3 lb weights for 1 minute intervals. I would like my arms to get toned up so I can wear tank tops all summer while I'm having pregnant hot flashes!
Anyone have any good tips for getting motivated?
Hope everyone is doing well!
