Everyday Minerals

I'm ordering a sample kit to try some different shades.

Except they have like a million different base shades. How do I even begin to choose three to sample?

Any advice on choosing colors for other make-up as well? I have green/blue/hazel eyes.

I was going to do the same thing, too. I'm curious to see how others chose their colors, too. When I chose my last make up, Bare Essentials, I went to the store and they tried out different shades on my skin. Before, when I used liquid makeup, I would rub a dab on my hand, blend in and if it blended well there, it would do well on my face and it did!

I know if you go to Almay.com, they have advice on how to color coordinate with your eye color. My eyes are brown and purples look best on me. I don't wear them, too often, but when I do, they do look nice.

Hi! I just got my samples last week. The FAQ section was really helpful for me in determining color. They also seem to have a very active message board. Hope this helps!

I just went ahead and ordered mine. Part guess work/part FAQ section.

Looks like shipping is a long time (25 days?!) but I'll update when it gets here.

It's too bad; I just dropped like $100 on various cosmetics from the Body Shop, but it's making my skin break out. So I'm looking forward to trying this!

25 days is a long time, but mine arrived in about a week.

I started with what I "knew" as my liquid color.
The descriptions were also helpful for me, too.

The thing to remember, though, is that your face color will change with the seasons, as will your coverage needs. So it's actually nice to have those extra colors on hand.

The FAQs are really helpful, as well.

You should definitely check out the Everyday Minerals forum for advice. If you post natural light pictures, the forum members will give you some good suggestions. (You can block out your eyes to keep your anonymity if you like.)

The idea is to get your face to look like it matches the rest of you. Many times a person's face is lighter or darker and more red or pink than the rest of them, so it's easier to look at your neck and chest to see what the undertone is.

If you get your samples and they don't seem right, post some natural light photos wearing the best match on the forum, making sure enough of your neck and chest is visible. You will get some very good suggestions for foundations that will match you better.

HTH!

Thanks for the advice! I'll try out what I ordered, and if it doesn't work, I'll definitely go this route
