I read it in the summer and liked it. I think it only took me a couple days to read.

Let me know what you think.

It's been quite a while since I read it, but as I remember - fast read, great stories, nicely written, overall very enjoyable.

It's also been a while since I've read it, but I thought it was a good book overall. Lots of fun short stories.

I read it. I thought it was great. I loved reading about her experience as a midwife, especially the variety of people she worked with. I couldn't put it down and flew through it.

Babycatcher is the book that made me choose a midwife instead of an OB.

Well if you're fascinated by birth, love birth stories, the field of midwifery, then this is for you. I also thought it was very readable--I gobbled it up. There's one heartbreaking story, so you might want to skip that one if you are pregnant and feeling overly sensitive/hormonal/nervous.

Absolutely adored it! Here's a snippet of my review:

Quote:
Peggy’s gentle yet efficiently short writing style seems to echo her catching style, as she remains calm, extremely competent and always trusting in the process; her work speaks for itself whether at the keyboard or assisting in the birth of a family. Spanning her earliest days out of nursing school and the trials and jubilation of the midwifery movement, her journey pulls at the heartstrings of the feminist and mother in all of us.

Her story leaves you inspired, excited, and fully aware of the work that needs to be done to ensure that all women have access to safe, competent care that respects both the body and the spirit and understands the process enough to leave interventions for those that truly require them.

I think it’s a must read and a book that I will surely go back to often.

Ooh thanks for the idea.

I keep running across this book and thinking about reading.

I'm going to do it now!

Loved it!

This book brought me to Mothering Magazine, natural childbirth, and breastfeeding. Seriously!! It's had a huge impact on how I ended up parenting. I wasn't yet pregnant when I found the book and it really influenced decisions I made.

Also, I was living in Berkeley when I read the book, which was very fun!!
