Stupid Baby Position Q

Uhhh...is it bad that her back is on my right side and has been there for weeks? OB has confirmed that she's head down, and I thought that was the big concern :

Note: no one has actually told me that she's facing to my left, I just assume that's the case since it's the only side I've been feeling the little baby parts poking me!

I believe, LOA, OA are considered the MOST optimal...and ROA (what you're describing) is the next most optimal...for whatever the reason. My baby goes from back on left to back on right. I think they'll both find they're best spot to be in before descending!

Could also check out the spinning babies website, as it has tons of good info on baby positioning.

My babies like to sit on that side of me too. No problem

Thanks ladies

Mine is the same. She is stubborn and has been in that position for weeks.

If you're feeling baby pokes on your right side, that could be their feet and the rest of their body is on the left. Check out the spinning babies and go through their tummy mapping technique.

Sounds like ROA to me too, which is fine. LOA or OA are better, and OA is just a small rotation away from ROA so... You can deal with that in labor if you have to... Is baby engaged?

No one @ the OB's office has actually used the word "engaged" yet, but they have felt around and said that she's definitely "dropped down," "getting the right idea," and "moving in the right direction."

and Conchobhar, I'm feeling the pokes and little parts on my left side

no worries, with my pregnant lady brain, I had to go back and read my own posts thinking I'd said right instead of left to begin with! xD

You might want to try some of the ideas from spinningbabies. A lot (most?) ROA babies rotate through posterior to get to OA. Lie on your left side to sleep, keep your knees lower than your hips, don't recline. Spend some time on your hands & knees everyday...basically make your belly into a hammock to encourage your baby to rest her back against.

I had to have DH put bricks under the head of the bed for reflux, so the sleep positioning is no biggie. I could spend more time on hands and knees, though, thanks!
