Is it yeast??

*Please excuse the layman's terms I am using for this description.*
My 12 mo DD has a lot of extra *ahem* cheese growing between her labia around
her clitoris. Her urine smells MUCH stronger than usual and she has been really
grumpy for the past few days. Since she was born I have always left the extra
white stuff, thinking that cleaning it all off would cause an imbalance of
bacteria or something similar. Should I be cleaning it off every diaper change?
Also, does this sound like a yeast infection? A friend suggested using
grapefruit seed extract diluted with water to wash it out. I started this
yesterday, so hopefully we are on the right track. Please let me know if anyone
else has encountered this and what they did for it. I really would like to avoid
taking her to the doctor and putting her on any type of medication.

We went to the ped recently b/c DD had been complaining about being "sore" and asking for medicine for several weeks, and she had odor and discharge. It was just a common form of vaginitis... This link gives basically the same info the ped gave us. HTH!

Sounds like it could be. Keep up the grapefruit seed extract and cut sugars out of your diet. Take some probiotics as well so that she will get some extra. Good luck!

Cut sugars and increase probiotics - Check! I DO eat tons of sugar . I'm not surprised her system is a little out of whack!

My son had a yeast infection compounded by a rare form of antibiotic resistant staph in his foreskin.  His Urine smelled as well and he was in intense pain.  I had never cleaned the inside foreskin area because I did not want to disturb his good bacteria.  After a traumatic trip to the emergency room and a huge explosion of pus and blood from said area, I began using several preventative measures which have worked so far despite being told that the infection would likely recur and he would need circumcision.  First I use, DR. Bonners tea tree soap on body for bath time, I spray diaper area with Puracyn for each diaper change and a mixture of coconut oil and wild oregano oil as cream, I use a little monistat when I notice odor or moistness with redness, and I keep the area dry dry dry.  Orally I give a good multivitamin (vitamin code KIids), a probiotic,  cranberry juice, and finally oregamax broken into food twice a day.
