Got 1 1/2 yard of PUL

I found a Hancock place and just got 1 1/2 yard because I have no idea how much I need to make a diaper cover. Anybody have any idea and what pattern would be good for a newbie? I plan on making NB covers, (I have 4 small prowraps from DS) and medium size, I might do 1 or 2 more smalls if I have left over. The thing I don't like about the prowraps is the elastic on the legs or so absorbent that sometimes I only get to use it once or twice before it smells of pee, is there a way around doing that type of elastic(I am also making wool covers).

I also didn't realize the PUL is waterproof on one side but not on the other, is there a reason for that?

Anyways TIA

Is it this forum is not as active or I ask some far out questions? I think I am just going to some wraps and pull-ups with it w/ whatever free pattern I find.

Hi! With 1.5 yards of PUL you should be able to get lots of newborn covers out of it.

PUL only really needs to be waterproof on one side. You put the plasticky side on the inside (next to the diaper) and the knit-like side is on the outside.

If you like the fit of the prowraps, you could always just trace over it to make your pattern, and if you don't like the way the elastic smells, you could add about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch to the pattern so you can fold it over at the edges and encase the elastic.

Good luck, and those weren't far-out questions!

It's a slow forum, it's not you! You'll be able to get a number of covers out of your PUL. I use a free pattern I found online at someone's blog, but honestly I don't remember the name, I'm sorry!

I think the Mama Bird pattern is not too difficult to make, you could start with that. I have another nice pattern as well, but can't remember where it came from now, but I will email you the file if you would like.

Adding, I do think that the mama bird pattern needs to be adapted a little bit, at least I needed to make the "front flaps" longer to make them fit my babe properly, and especially so for the covers!
