Am I reading this right?

Article

Among the children who never had measles infection, those who had been vaccinated were more likely to have nasal allergies, Rosenlund's group observed.

Further analysis showed that allergies were less likely in children who had had a bout of measles, but not in those who had been vaccinated against measles.

That's interesting. My children have not received any vaccinations and my older two had measles. My oldest has pet dander allergies. Hrmmm.

Hmm, is it that the measles infection means less allergies? or is it that children who are likely to have a lifestyle that includes not being vaccinated for measles/eventually getting measles also have lifestyle factors that make them less likely to have allergies (in this case, biodynamic foods, allowed to have fevers, fewer antibiotics)?

See, that was the part that confused me... They make it sound like kids that get measles have fewer allergies...but at the same time it's very likely to be lifestyle.

My son was 2 1/2 and my daughter just barely 1. I didn't do anything special to treat it. Both were nursing at the time and we lived in Hawaii. They had high fevers and then the rash after. They were super cranky too.

I'm pretty sure this is the same article from Pediatrics.

Or maybe the vaccine itself caused the nasal allergies.

Probably not the lifestyle. All the children in the study were living in the country and eating biodynamic food. Some were vaccinated and some weren't. Some had had measles and some had not.

Thanks. The conclusion makes more sense now.

Love your sig, by the way. I'm in the same camp, as is everyone in my family.
