Okay, just some info- in no particular order ('cause that's how my head is tonight )

Hib vaxes against certain strains of a type of bacteria.

Those strains of that bacteria CAN cause meningitis.

COUNTLESS strains of countless bacteria CAN cause meningitis (as can viruses, some meds., etc)

Since the introduction of the vax total number of cases of meningitis has remained the same.

The vax is very effective at preventing the strains it covers- BUT other bacteria just fill the void (this is called serotype replacement)

I wasn't vaxed with this and you probably weren't either- ever worry about it as a child?

Pre-vax nearly ALL children were immune by age 5 with NO recorded illness.

The bacteria naturally lives in the nose and throat of healthy people and usually causes no problems.

According to the CDC's own numbers, strains covered by the vax have been nearly eliminated in recent years.
