Question for Mom's With 2 In Diapers

Our second baby is due in June, DS 1 will be 14 months so defintiely still in diapers!! Our entire stash is OS pockets right now... which I love!! Mostly blueberry, HH and tiny tush elites. I love how they fit and everything... but I am having some trouble figuring out how I am going for make time to stuff all the pockets with doing laundry every day!! I was thinking maybe OS fitteds and covers? Or something? Cost is important, as we will need a big stash with 2 in diapers. We can't really afford AIOs I don't think... any suggestions? We have an entire newborn stash (fitteds and covers) so I am just worried about once new baby outgrows those!

I am in the same position is you, though my ds is 2 already and #2 is due in Aug. Still....exactly the same issue. I get so sick of stuffing pockets!!! They generally work well for us. TinyTush is my fave, I just can't imagine stuffing more pockets.

We, right now, have a very mixed stash. More and more often, I reach for my fitteds or pf's. I think I used to be intimidated by the pf's, but once you get past the learning curve, they seem to be such a great system. I think my nb stash will be nearly all fitteds and pf's. You don't have to stuff or fold or anything. Just once they are dry, toss them all in a basket - grab a dipe, grab a cover, throw them on. Done. I'm going to get a few aio's for midnight changes when my eyes are half closed. But those are my thoughts.

I guess my suggestion would be to really give pf's a try. The are cheap. There is a learning curve, but once you get past it, they are easy, fast. Easy to clean. low maintenance. Great option! Then you just need some great covers and you're all set!

We have tried PFs... and they are a no go around here, DH just can't get the hang of them and he really needs to be able to change a diaper once we have 2!! I think the fitteds would be a good compromise though...

Fitteds are really nice if you can swing the extra $, especially in the nb phase, I feel like they block the runny poo better since you have the elastic of the fitted plus a cover for double protection.

If course, they cost more, but less than pockets or aio's usually.

Im a mom of 3 with two still in diapers full time (8mos & 24mos) and the third just nights. I adore my pocket diapers. The best imo. We don't pre stuff... I did that with my first baby. After #2 you just grab and go. We finally have our system down. 3 dry pails. One covers, one inserts and one for washcloths. This allows us to just wash, dry and then throw the whole dryer load into a laundry basket and thats its final home- no final sorting. So we get the wipes all in one basket of just wipes, one of just inserts and one goes straight to the clothes line for drying. My 5 year old often helps with that too.

I have to say that having a dh that is totally on board makes a difference. Often he is the one keeping tabs on supply and washing. I think the earth impact had little to do with it... he is very frugal so that was his motivation.

So yes. I just say keep going!

I use fuzzi bunz fitteds and use but detest bum genius os.

I had 3 in diapers and used mostly prefolds. At first I had 6 FB then we bought 12 more of those, but my go to diapers were always prefolds & covers. I did laundry about 4x a week, but I had 3 in diapers.

I've heard great reviews about Baby Beehinds OS fitted diapers. My friend swears by them in combination with either Thirsties or wool covers.

I diapered 2 with pocket diapers for almost 9 months. It wasn't that bad. So even if you just enough fitteds and covers so that you're not having to do laundry quite so often, I think you'll be fine. I washed every other day and it felt very manageable.

My LO are 5 mon and 22 mon. Actually I think it is easier having 2 in cloth, a load is full and I only wash 3 times a week, sometimes 4. We use Pockets mainly, some OS and some pre-folds and covers. I have a pretty big stash of pockets and OS: 24 size (small/medium) and 16 (larges), not including pre-folds and covers. It makes things a bit more manageable with keeping up with the wash. OS are great for going out and about I bring 3 dipes along and they work for either baby.
Honestly I can't every do newborns...just too much for me to keep up with at that time, so we start with OS or smalls... You can do it!!!

It really just becomes part of your routine. I don't do pockets anymore, but do fold prefolds and flats for two. I have enough dipes to do laundry either every other day or every two days. All the washing gets done at night, and sometimes the drying too, if I get it all in early enough. Otherwise they go in the dryer first thing when I wake up, then folding is just another chore I do while wearing DD. For ease, I put the laundry basket up on the counter and fold while standing. It's really not the extra work I thought it would be.

We use a mixture of different systems, but with 2 sometimes I'm just stuffing the pockets as I change-I don't always get a chance to do it all at once!

If you like Tiny Tush and Blueberry, both of those brands have one-size fitteds. You might start looking at them since they are brands you already know you like.

Wonderwraps and Mommy's Touch are both one size covers, if you wanted to make it all one size.

Mine will be about the same age gap- and I decided to go with prefolds and covers, along with wool.

My husband can mess up most dipes (fitted inside a pocket, unstuffed pocket alone, fitted alone..... ) but he 'gets' prefold + snappi + cover'. I just show him folds that work for me and we go from there.

My hubby can do fitteds + covers and he can do pockets... but the week we tried prefolds was NOT pretty!! I may start getting some fitteds and covers at some point... I am hoping that my newborn stash will last for awhile, like, the first couple months?? I have 36 OS pockets... but some of them I am not overly fond of (the mother's touch OS) but use them for night times because they are good for double stuffing. Do you ladies think I should get some more diapers?

I think I will probably do this... I love the OS aspect of things even if they are a little bulkier at first.. just seems easier!

When I had 2 in pockets, I didn't really think it was that much extra work to stuff them. I thought it was worth the teeny bit of extra work, just to be able to slap them on a bare bum so fast. I generally did my stuffing during naptime or after the babies were both in bed. You can also just toss them all in a basket, and stuff them as you need them. HTH

Also, if you know baby is done pooing, you can just tri-fold a prefold in a cover and lay baby on top and secure the cover. That isn't much different than securing a pocket. This worked well for my DD1 when I had 2 in CDs. It is even husband proof. This is the way I started "training" my DH to use prefolds.

i have a 28month old and a 9month old both in cloth full-time and we use mostly prefolds and covers (mostly proraps but some bsww and a few fleece soakers i've made)...we also have some kushies aio's for them, dd is about to outgrow the infant sizes ones though but we use the toddler sized on ds and use an infant prefold as a doubler for nighttime. kushies used to be supercheap but have recently gone up in price. for dd we recently started using a fitted and a fleece soaker for nighttime and it has cured our nighttime leaks :
