*DRAMAMINE and breastfeeding?*

anyone have any experience with dramamine while bf'ing? my friend gets really motion sick on airplanes, and she's flying soon with her ds (2.5). it's categorized as a "don't know if it's so good," but wondered if any of you had direct experience with this med.
thanks so much!

Months of Years?

Well, if her DS is 2.5 years I wouldn't worry about it at all. Dramamine is considered safe for children over two years of age, so the small amount that he'd get through breast milk shouldn't be a problem.

If her DS is 2.5 months, I'm not sure.

I *think* it's the same thing as benadryl- in which case one of the main worries would be supply...

They aren't exactly the same, but I believe they are related. If I recall correctly they are both antihistamines, but Benadryl is stronger.

I have taken antihistamines while nursing and was told that I just needed to time the medication properly with the nursing. I didn't have any noticeable drop in supply, but I'd expect any drop to be temporary, basically when the drug was active in your system.

I don't think I'd worry much with a 2.5 year old, though with a 2.5 month old who'd be nursing frequently, I'm not sure I'd do it.
