Help! I need a new carrier

well my son is nearing the 20lb mark or has already made it there. I have a bjorn (that I would have never bought if I knew all I do now)anyways, it is killing my shoulders. My little guy loves to ride around on me and I just cant do it long with the bjorn, anyways it can only carry a babe up to 25lbs.
I would love some suggestions.
Thanks
Jill

do you do forward facing? if so, Pikkolo is, imo, the more comfortable and ergonomical Bjorn.

otherwise, to alleviate the pain, any 2-shoulder carrier paired with waist support will solve that problem.

it just depends on what you prefer now. are you going to stick with buckles or are you open to ties?

Definitely look into getting a mei tai or Ergo/Beco type carrier. We have two Ergos and they are wonderful! I can still carry my 35 lb. son in these and our 2 yo girl in them for over an hour. We LOVE them!

I am def open to ties. Jack does love to face forward when running errands. I would like to try another that can do a hip carry also.
thanks

My dad just bought me a mei tei (Kozy Carrier) for me and my baby due in May, and I've been trying it out with my older son. 7 month pregnant with a 35 lb almost 3 year old boy this thing is comfy! Moreso on the front facing in but any way works.

I'm all into podegis right now (modernized narrow version). I can carry my 2 1/2 yo in one comfortably. Mei tais are also great.

He'd probably like riding on your hips just as much, since he can see out and about in that position and also back carries would be great. A soft structured carrier or mei tai would allow you to do back carries (and front too), but aren't usually the best options for hip carries (unless you got a soft structured carrier specifically for hip carries). They are doable, but just not as comfy as other carriers that are used as hip carriers. How about two carriers? A mei tai (like Kozy, Babyhawk, My Blessed Baby, Freehand) or soft structured carrier (Beco, Calyx, Ergo) and a ring sling or pouch? Or another option is a short or long woven wrap that you can use as a back, front and hip carrier as needed.

I second the mei tai or a buckle tai (a soft structured carrier). I just got a new buckle tai, and it is soooo comfy.
