Anyone ever taken any of the CLEP exams? I'm wanting to look into taking 2 different ones in order to save me some time & lots of $$. Were you able to find adequate study guides? How did the exam compare to your expectation of it?? More difficult or easier? Any tips/advice?

I did three or 4 clep exams. They were easy. I read the booklet that I found on amazon for the tests I wanted to do, then I signed up for the test. It was all multiple choice and on the computer. Best thing ever. US history was the hardest one for me.
Good luck.

I took the five general subject CLEPs for a total of 30 credit hours. I thought the tests were pretty easy...mostly common sense questions. I didn't really study for any of them.

I do recommend taking CLEPs to everyone. Very easy to get credit and many schools will accept them. Good luck!

I took the English one, because two months before graduation the assistant dean decided that I needed to take introduction to college english, or not graduate. The CLEP exam was really straight-forward and easy, and I remember thinking that I really should have known about the program earlier!

i took the Humanities test. checked out a study guide from the college library, swallowed the textbook in two days' time, and got a B on the exam. i'd definitely recommend the CLEP tests to anyone--tho maybe not my procrastinator-method of "studying"!

I took the college algebra CLEP exam after not really having much math in high school. To prepare, I spent about 4 hours a day for a couple of weeks beforehand studying a "College Algebra Demystified" book and the CLEP guide, and I got a good score. It's definitely do-able.

CLEPS rule. They are easy, have tons of study guides, and save you SO much in time and money and effort. I took a bunch as well.

I am really glad to hear these responses but frustrated at the same time! Why didn't I take any of these during my first two years of college?!?!? Ugh!! I'm at the point now where the only courses I have to finish are required subject courses for my degree program. I could've saved so much time & money if I took CLEP exams for all of my general education credits. You live & learn I guess....

Does financial aid pay for cleps though?? I thought it didnt...I was looking into heading back to college and wanted to clep out of as much as possible. But I got the impression I had to pay the cash to try it?
