If you want to. I would think it is a siggy meant for grey days and melancholic moods.

My thoughts exactly. If this had happened at one of those crazy, non-vaxing San Diego schools, this would be blasting from every news station on planet Earth. All we'd hear for days is how those selfish, abusive, humanity-hating non-vaxers have put everyone in peril.

I actually don't have any issues with that article. It simply reported the number of WC cases, without any kind of crazy fear mongering. No "go get your kid jabbed NOW", No "this is the fault of people who don't vax", No "non-vaxers are ruining our herd immunity", No "if you get WC you will DIE".

So from my perspective, all in all, a positive article.

I find it useful to be aware of any serious illness going around in my community. Not because I am going to run out and vax, but just so I can keep an eye out for any symptoms in my kid so we can get some early treatment happening.

I'm guessing that the only reason you don't see those statements is because all or most of the kids were vaxed. But maybe not.

If you think vaccinations make your child "safe" from getting VPD's then that's fine I guess, although it is a fact that vaxed kids come down with various VPD quite often (escpecially WC)

And as for comparing rabies to WC...the poster was being sarcastic.
I agree! I also know that breastfeeding doesn't rule out these illnesses. However, I will not for one second believe that BFing does not have a better protection than a vile full of toxins. Breastfeeding builds my sons immune system, rather than (the vaccine) weakening (sp?). I find it interesting that there are 18 reported cases of WC in this article. Also, no word of vax status in kids...in my experience that usually means that some (if not all) of the children were vaxed. The media doesn't let the unvaxed go unmentioned!!!!

There are whooping cough news articles in abundance right now. I too find it interesting that they are not mentioning vax status in almost all of them. Only one, that I have read, touches on vax status and that was a boy who was vaccinated. That article goes on to argue the need for more booster shots. As a matter of fact, they all pretty much end with the reminder that vaccination is needed.

How many DTaP shots are those who vaccinate going to end up getting? Maybe it will be like smallpox where some people were getting the shot every year, and in some instances more often than that.

Letter for immunization for Tdap needed prior to 6th grade

I just got a letter from my daughters school she is in 5th grade. it states that
Quote:
"An act to amend the public health law, in realtion to requiring children to receive booster immunizations for tetanus, dipetheria, and an acellulur pertussis vaccine became law August 16, 2006. This came about b/c between 200 and 2005, 4500 cases of pertuseis WC were reported in NY. About 39% of theses cases occurred in adolescents ages 10-19. ALL CHILDREN BORN ON OR AFTER JAN. 1 1994 AND ENTERING 6TH GRADE NEED TO HAVE A BOOSTER IMMUNIZATION CONTAINING TETANUS, DIPTHERIA, AND AN ACELLULAR PERTUSSIS VACCINE. If a student received a tetanus booster within the last 2 years, the student may not receive a Tdap for 2 yrs following that date.
"
now as of yet i havent had to deal w/ the vaccine status of this daughter (being she was vaxed b4 i knew my rights), and am a little concerned about submitting the proper paper work. my other younger dd goes to a private daycare and they had no problem with her unvaxed status, but this is a state school. i was wondering if anyone had any info about ny law on this matter.
