Great Covers

I need rec's. I just ordered a HUGE stash of prefolds to fill out my stash. I'll have 2 babies about 14 months apart as of Sept, so I figured prefolds are easy to wash and I know my husband can manage them without confusion.

I want to find a source of good (is cheap too much to ask?) covers and want a mix of wool as well.

I'm toying with the idea of one-size covers, but I can't decide. I have a couple Juicytoots covers I love, and I like the bummis superbrights for little babies, but my son is a chunk, and he needs a waist that isn't going to pinch while he's in the 'buddah sitting' stage.

I wasn't so thrilled with the Bummis superbrites. It didn't take too long before they began to show their wear. My thirsties on the other hand wash really well and hold up for a long time. Bummis Super Whisper Wraps also held up longer than the Superbrites. Thirsties have lots of room for a chunck, since they run a little big. HTH.

I have 2 superbrites, one is worn and picky and not all that pretty. But it still works great and is really stretchy. The other one is in great shape, not picky at all. It is not real stretchy, but it works great. The second one is slightly newer, maybe they changed something about them.

My Thirsties work well, they seem to be a little more cheaply made.

I have a Mother-ease Rikki wrap that was my DS's from 6 years ago. That thing is yellow, picky and ugly as sin. But works amazing!!!! When I need new covers I will be getting more of those, except I'll probably get the Airflow. They are side snap, so they are more adjustable for the chubby babes.

If your babe is chubby, I would avoid the proraps, they seem narrow to me.

For my chunky little man I got a Luxe Wool pull on cover, and I just love it. We've used it for at least 6 months, and I've been SO impressed- I like th efit much better than the snap on wool covers I have. Since its pull on I have to snappy the prefold first- but the fit and feel of it is just great, and looking for them on line I found this place is having a sale on them:

I am also having another baby in Sept- but can't seem to think through what we'll need to fill out our stash.

I'm due with #2 in Aug and I will probably use mostly Thirsties with a few wool ones I'm going to make myself... With my son I had some Bummis whisper wraps and I just had to replace the velcro. Other than that they have held up well, though I like the gussets on the thirsties for a nb.

Funny, I think Bummis SB wear so much better than Thristies...to each their own
My advice...if you have the least bit sewing ability, make a handful of fleece covers. They are super cheap (I think about $3 a piece), can be used again and again, and are adorable.

Oh- I hadn't thought of making a few fleece covers, I'll do that as well. I'm moderately handy with a sewing machine, just terrified of altering patterns I don't design myself. :P

I love my Bummis SWW! I have several; I've been using them for months, and they are still going strong. I have some that are on their 3rd baby. FWIW, they have been good for my chunky monkey. I like that they are so adjustable, because they worked well when DS was super chunky (pre-crawling/walking), and now that he has slimmed down some with walking.

I haven't used the Thirsties, but my SIL loves hers.

Most of my covers were a mix of Bummis and Thirsties, and Stacinators for the wool. I love the prints of the SuperBrights, and the color availability of the Thirsties.

Nikky's

around since the 80's+ still a stong, solid, excellent product.

was my bullet proof cover when all else failed. I stongly believe everyone should own at least one -- it may end up your fav.

I love my diaperaps covers. I used them with ds1 and bought nb sized ones or ds2.

I like the poly ones better than the cotton blend, they're softer and more flexible.

I think the price is worth it.

I love Thirsties as well, but at night fleece covers work best for us. You mentioned you can sew, there are lots of very cute fleece prints out there!

For night: Dancing Bears fleece soaker - bulletproof and so easy to care for.

I like Bummis Super Brite, Super Whisper Wrap, and Thirsties - they all have their uses and fit differently. I think the Super Whisper Wrap wears the best long-term. Thirsties are good for chunkier babies with their lower, wider cut.

GEN-Y are so freaking cute!

I have Bummis Super Brites, and Thirties for PUl covers and I like Bummis Super Brites better. I get a better fit with them, they are trimmer, and I like the rise better on them. I also have a stacinator fleece cover and a Lovebums fleece wrap and I like the loveybums better.
