not wanting to hijack the previous thread...
Fr those of you with a beco, what happens if babe falls asleep in it? I too am trying to decide which to get and I think that this is going to decide it for me. Ergo has the hood, what about beco??

TIA

Beco has a hood too!
It's stored in a little pocket thingy on the waistband. You snap it on (two snaps on the carrier and two on the shoulder straps, it has 3 settings I believe).

I haven't really used it yet though (apart from for protection against wind/sun/rain), cause dd is small enough that her head doens't come much above the body of the carrier itself.

Is it included when you buy the beco? Which is the newest version?

The Beco Butterfly II is the newest version. It comes with the sleeping hood.

For front carries in a soft structured carrier like the Ergo or Beco, I often find that you don't really need the hood, because baby's sleeping head will fall forward onto your chest and will be supported by the juncture between the shoulder strap and body of the carrier.

For back carries, if you think your LO might go to sleep, make sure to have the hood out (and attached in the case of the Beco) with the snap straps dangling down before you put the carrier on. It's totally impossible to attach the Beco hood by yourself if your baby is on your back, and pretty darned hard to get the Ergo hood out of the pocket if it's tucked away.
