what to do for Slow Letdown?

I have a friend who had a really hard time. Her DD ended up with FTT because it took several minutes for her milk to letdown and other difficulties.

She is due in June w/#2. What can I do to help her? She had to supplement and was exhausted from pumping to get letdown and quit at four-five months. She really wants to nurse longer this time.
Thanks!

Fennel is supposed to help with letdown. Maybe she might want to try that. Also visualization and relaxation techniques but I know how hard that is when your baby is hungry and desperately trying to get milk from you. It was also suggested to me to try rescue remedy to help me relax. I hope this time is easier for your friend because this is an awful thing to go through.

Oh I just thought of one more thing. She could try seeing a chiro. Sometimes subluxations in the spine can cause milk probs.

HTH!

More Milk Plus by Motherlove really helped me have a faster and more forceful letdown - I was pumping to supplement at the time and could see (and hear!) the difference in the flanges, as well as in how quickly DD would start swallowing.
