Question about mutliple detergants

I am new to CDing (baby is due in June) but I just ordered some CD pull ups for my older son who still wets at night. They should be here any day now, so I will get started soon. So here are my questions.

1. I have a front loader and use tide cause I LOVE the smell and I love how well it cleans my clothes. I know it is not great to use on CD, but it is more because of irritation on the skin of babies? Like can I use it on my older sons pull ups?

2. If we should't use tide, is it ok to still use tide on my own laundry and use something else for the diapers in the same washer?

3. I honestly don't want to limit my detergant to something I have to special order etc. I am HORRIBLE about remembering that kind of stuff, so what is a good brand to use that I can buy at a store?

Any other advice or tips would be great.

Actually, after trying a ton of different detergents, I switched to Tide on the recommendation of a lot of people at DS, and it's the best detergent I've ever used on my diapers. Gets them clean, they smell good, and no buildup issues.

I also heard tide works great. I choose Country Save as my DS is just a newborn and was worried about skin sensitivity. When the box of Country Save is gone, I'm gonna try Tide.

I switched to Tide a few weeks ago, I didn't have great success with it. I'm not a fan of the scent and it didn't really help with staining which I thought it would. It also caused some issues with a few of my prefolds, frayed the edges pretty bad. : The diapers always smelled clean though and my kids didn't have any sensitivities to it. I did have to start using Ecover fabric softener because Tide made them pretty crunchy.

The past few days I have been using liquid Soap Nuts I can get locally and it doesn't help with staining either, but it does get them clean and smelling fresh. I've been using regular Sun detergent on my clothes and they smell clean and feel soft, which surprised me! I read on a site that reg. Sun detergent is CD safe, and it's cheap!

I have tried sooo many detergents, and additives...I keep wanting to go back to Charlies Soap.

Good Luck Mama!

Thanks ladies. I will just try out the tide for now. If DS can do fine with it and there aren't any problems, I will see how the baby does. None of my kids (5 bio in total and one step) have never had sensativity issues with detergants etc. so hopefully it wont be an issue with the baby. My kids even did fine with no rashes like ever with disposibles even, so maybe (crossing fingers) that the baby just wont have any issues.

I'm heard great thing about Tide on www.diaperswappers.com

There is A LOT of info on cloth diapering there...

I am having issues with my baby getting rashes and had stinkies with my diapers. But I use tide and the diapers are very clean however, my daughter still has rashes but I think they might be stemmed from my diet cuz she has gotten rashes both with disposables and CD's so I have to check my diet. If Tide works for you keep on with it....definitely check out that website--great resource for CD users.
