Renting newborn diapers

There is an online store where you can rent newborn Kissaluvs for three months, and then return them and get a credit to purchase anything else at their store. It seems like a cool concept but I was wondering if others have tried something like this. How was your experience? Thanks!

Haven't tried it but I'd bet if you spend a few months stalking Craig's List, MDC Trading Post and diaperswappers.com you could likely amass a decent collection of KL0's for about the same price or maybe a bit more--plus you'd be able to resell them.

Sounds like an interesting idea. Often companies that offer this type of service also sell the used diapers at a significant discount, so that's something you may want to ask about too.

Oh! I was just reading about this today!

Sunshine diapers

also Precious Dignity frequently sells diaper service dipes for cheap. I don't know about Kissaloves, I'm probably going to go with PFs

Sunshine diapers was the place I was looking at too!

I'll have to start stalking the Trading Post here, I've never really checked it out.

I checked out the sunshine diapers rental program, doesn't really seem like a good deal.

I bought 12 KL0s (it was a surprise mix of colors and unbleached, we got 3 colors and 9 unbleached) from the outlet for $110. They were supposed to be seconds but I got lucky and got new, regular dipes as far as I can tell (no cut tags or marks). But I've heard that most people can't tell the difference between seconds and regulars anyway. If the kissaluvs outlet comes back up before you have to buy you could get 24 new KLs to own for the same price as renting, plus you'd be able to resell them for more than their return credit and wouldn't have to get a full 24 of them if you didn't want to. I went with 12 KLs and 24 NB prefolds.

Even if you bought new KLs from somewhere that offers a bulk discount like Abby's Lane you'd be better off in the long run buying them and reselling them on diaperswappers since they go for about $9-10 each.
