Hot/Muggy Weather and PUL Diapers?

I have what might be an odd question... we use all pockets, PUL outers mostly fleece inners with MF inserts. Not sure that is all relevant but here is my question. I know PUL isn't the most breathable material ever, so might this cause problems in a really hot, muggy summer? Do they make pockets with something other than a PUL outer? We just moved to Louisiana at the end of last summer so I have no idea if this will be an issue...

I'm no expert, but I have seen fleece and wool covers. Both sounding hotter then PLU. I have not butts to put them on, but the PUL does't seem half bad. I'm in Ohio so its not as muggy, but we do have our 90F days! If its that hot I may just snappi the PF and go coverless, especially if I'm spending the day outside! Maybe even naked butt if it just too hot!

Of course, it's all gonna be hot. I do think some people favor wool over PUL, because it breathes better. It is said that PUL breathes, but I don't think as well as wool. That said, we did not have a problem with our LO last year during the summer. Didn't notice he was any more red or sweaty or rashy in the diaper area than anywhere else, and we used mostly PUL then.

Going coverless when you can is a good idea, as pp suggested.

I've cloth diapered two babies through numerous Atlanta summers and we haven't had issues with PUL. If you wanted some breathability, you can check into fleece and wool covers.

We didn't usually have heat-related redness, but if we did, I would have just gone without covers while at home for a bit till it cleared up.

I've cloth diapered two babies in Houston, and it's really warm and muggy here. I've noticed that PUL diapers do keep my little ones a little warmer in the diapering area. There have been days when I thought the diaper was wet, but it was actually sweat. So yes, they do get warm.

Wool is very breathable and they don't sweat the same way with a wool cover. But they will still get warm. It's pretty much just the nature of cloth diapering.

We've ditched our PUL covers for fitteds and prefolds with wool. DS1 is still wearing pockets though. I can definitely feel the difference because DS1 will be soaked in sweat, but DS2 (fitted/wool) will still be dry to the touch.

We can't do wool (allergic) but are there other options? We use pockets because it is something DH can't mess up!!

Fleece is the same concept it still breathes more than PUL
